Description
A wonderful opportunity to purchase a five bedroom detached house in Chislehurst's most desirable road.
The house has 5,181 square foot (including garage and outbuildings) of accommodation so is well proportioned. There is scope to extend subject to planning or you could modernise the current house to your own taste and specification. The plans shown are for planning that was granted in 2008 and extended in 2011. That permission has now lapsed, but it demonstrates the potential the property offers.
On the ground floor are three reception rooms plus a snooker/games room with bar and a conservatory that overlooks the front garden.
To the first floor the master bedroom has a large ensuite, with two of the other bedrooms having ensuites. The remaining two bedrooms are served by a family bathroom. Three of the front facing bedrooms all have access to a balcony that extends along most of the front of the house.
The rear garden is 88' X 70' and has an outdoor swimming pool and a summerhouse.
The house is set back from the road so the driveway provides plenty of parking. With the house being elevated it adds to the properties sense of privacy.
A little history:- The Camden Park Estate with its manor house, Camden Place, gained notoriety when it became home in exile of Napoleon the Third, Emperor of the French, and the Imperial Family in 1870. The death of the Emperor in 1873 left the widowed Empress in residence until she moved to Hampshire. In 1890 the estate was put up for sale and the William Willetts, father and son, property developers purchased the estate. They had a vision for a much larger scale development originally, but there was local opposition and the compromise was for Camden Place to become Chislehurst Golf Club with Camden Park Road and Wilderness Road created to provide substantial homes. The first homes in Wilderness Road were occupied in 1906 and the remainder of the road was developed predominantly between then and the late 1930's. Today there are 31 properties in the road with the 32nd under construction.
Footnote by Richard Piddock, Partner at jdm. "I am fortunate to have had the privilege of visiting many of Chislehurst's finest homes in the most sought after roads, yet still now after 20 plus years of working in Chislehurst, on entering Wilderness Road it has the ability to surprise you as to just how wonderful a road it is. It is truly a hidden gem."
