Description
You'll find U&A in an area of the city known as Digbeth, which is known for its community of young creatives, independent shops, cinemas, bars, restaurants, and cafes and was named the 'Coolest Neighbourhood in Britain' by The Times.
WELL-CONNECTED
U&A sits at the junction of Lower Essex Street and Bromsgrove Street, right in the heart of Birmingham's vibrant China Town and Gay Village less than ten minutes' walk from New Street train and bus station, Grand Central and the Bullring shopping centre, so getting around couldn't be easier.
ABOUT THE APARTMENT
Two-bedroom apartments are available in a range of layouts, and cleverly designed to make the best possible use of space.
The main living area is open plan, with full-height windows to maximise natural light, and is fitted with high quality flooring by Amtico. If you choose a furnished apartment, you can expect good quality furniture in either a light or dark finish, with pieces chosen specifically for U&A including:
- Stylish sofa
- TV/media unit
- Coffee table
- Dining table with four chairs
The fully fitted kitchen is by a top British manufacturer, with quality hob and extractor, oven and either a fridge-freezer or under counter fridge with icebox depending on the style of apartment you choose.
In the bedroom, which is carpeted, you'll find a comfortable double bed with headboard and hypoallergenic quilted foam mattress, two bedside cabinets and a chest of drawers, plus full height fitted wardrobes.
The fully tiled en-suite bathroom will have a shower or bath with shower over, with a heated towel rail, and built in storage.
You'll ample storage throughout the apartment including a handy utility cupboard containing the washer-dryer, plenty of kitchen cupboards, a double full height fitted wardrobe in the bedroom with mirrored doors, and even a mirrored cabinet in the bathroom, with a built-in socket for charging your toothbrush or razor.
ENERGY EFFICIENCY & SUSTAINABILITY
U&A is constructed from high tech, precast concrete panels, and have high performance double glazing, which means they have a very high level of insulation. The average EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) and EIR (Environmental Impact (C02) Rating is B. EPC's and EIR's operate on a scale of A to G. A higher rating means greater energy efficiency, lower energy bills and less impact on the environment.
U&A HISTORY
U&A is a brand new, purpose-designed development which is made up of two separate buildings - Armouries House and Unity House.
There's very little recorded history of what was once on the site, although it's thought to have been linked with the city's arms manufacturing industry, which was concentrated in Digbeth during the 18th century. In the 1900's, Unity House on the west side of Lower Essex Street was home to the 'Imperial Amateur Boxing Club', after which it was operated as the Rose & Crown pub before becoming the regional headquarters for several trade unions. Hence the Name U&A, which is short for Unity & Armouries

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:
Living in this area has been an absolute pleasure. The location is incredibly convenient, with excellent access to transport links, local shops, restaurants, cafés and open spaces. Everything is within walking distance, and the connectivity to the rest of Manchester is fantastic. The street is always clean, safe and well-maintained, with reliable bin collections and minimal noise. I have never faced issues with parking or anti-social behaviour. Overall, it is a vibrant, friendly and comfortable area to live in.
How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:
Building management has always been outstanding. Any issue raised has been handled promptly, courteously and with full transparency. The team especially Ismail, Clara, Sam and Christian have been proactive, approachable and genuinely committed to ensuring residents are happy and comfortable.
Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:
I wish I had known earlier just how well-managed and community-focused Dandara Living is. The level of service, comfort and security is far above what I expected. Had I known this from the start, I would have moved in even sooner. It truly feels like a long-term home rather than just a rental property.
Manager's response5Paarth, thank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and glowing review. We’re absolutely delighted to know that Dandara Living has felt like home to you over the past four years with us. It’s incredibly rewarding to hear how much you value the design, facilities, and the welcoming atmosphere of our community, and your kind words for Ismail, Clara, Sam, Christian and the wider team mean a great deal. Knowing that you feel safe, connected, and part of a true community is exactly what we strive for. Thank you again for your continued trust and recommendation.

The Point, AB10
Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:
The location is great! It is in a hotspot for restaurants, bars and shops. Many would think being in such an area would make it loud. It is the opposite, the building is very quiet, making it a much more enjoyable stay.
How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:
Any issues in my flat have always been resolved quickly and to a good standard.
Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:
Nothing comes to mind, having a tour of the building before committing my stay here ensured myself I was going to be living in a good environment.
Manager's response5Thank you so much for your kind words and for taking the time to share your experience at The Point with us David. We’re delighted to hear that the facilities have been helpful for both your studies and your downtime, and that the environment has supported a quiet and productive lifestyle. We'll be sure to pass on your appreciation to Vishal and the rest of the staff who will be so please to know that The Point lived up to your expectations. Thanks again for your recommendation, it’s truly appreciated!

It’s wonderful to hear that Granary Quay truly felt like home and that you enjoyed both the shared spaces and the sense of community. Really good location, close to Leeds city center. Nice gym and study/work space. Friendly staff and fun events eventhough spaces are very limited.
How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:
They respond quickly. The application for a fault is easy.
Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:
