Stairs rise to the first floor and underneath is a useful storage cupboard. Wotter is a charming village situated in an elevated position on Dartmoor National Park which is best know for having outstanding views across the surrounding countryside, towards Plymouth and across Plymouth Sound in the distance. The village itself has a vibrant community and provides a doctors surgery and The Moorland Hotel which is also a superb restaurant. Forming part of the parish of Shaugh Prior, the neighbouring villages of Shaugh Prior and Lee Moor are both heavily involved in the local community and Shaugh Prior boasts The White Thorn Inn, a proper country pub which is run by a local family. Both Shaugh Prior and Lee Moor have village halls which often put on events for the community. Further amenities can be found in the nearby town of Plympton, which boasts a bustling high street known as ‘The Ridgeway’, where a vast array of shops, cafes, restaurants and other facilities can be found. A bus service operates through Wotter, linking the village with the nearby city of Plymouth. Shaugh Prior has a popular primary school which currently boasts a good Ofsted report and Ivybridge Community College provides a bus service for its students who live in the parish.
