Description
The ground floor opens into a welcoming living and dining area, while a cosy kitchen and a bathroom complete this level, making everyday living comfortable and convenient. A wooden staircase leads to the upper mezzanine, where a spacious bedroom awaits. This bright and airy space easily accommodates both a sleeping and a sitting area and could even accommodate a second bedroom if desired. Glass doors open onto a private balcony, framing views across the sea, the rolling countryside, and the distant outline of the island of Skyros.
Outside, the patio offers enough space for lounging, dining, or simply enjoying the island’s natural beauty. A private parking space within the property adds convenience without compromising the home’s traditional charm. It is one of the few properties in the Old Village that is accessible by car and offers a parking space.
A gentle five-minute walk from the house brings one into the heart of the Old Village, once the island’s capital and now a lively mix of restaurants, cafés, and shops. A scenic twenty-minute walk leads to a pebbly beach, where two local tavernas serve meals just steps from the water as the sun sinks behind Skopelos.
Rental potential
Alonnisos has been gaining in popularity as a holiday destination in the Sporades island complex, especially amongst nature lovers and those seeking serenity, affordable prices and a relaxed ambience. The location, style, and amenities of this house make it ideal for short-term rentals, and reputable management companies on the island can assist with all aspects of the operation.
Location - distances
Alonnisos is an island in the complex of the Sporades in the Northern Aegean. It can be reached by ferry from Volos, Agios Konstantinos, Thessaloniki, and Kymi, or you can fly to Skiathos and then take a ferry to Alonnisos.
Alonnisos is a prime destination for family vacations. It is a verdurous island with sandy beaches, a relaxed lifestyle, and home to the National Marine Park, a unique ecosystem featuring many different species of plants and animals. It is home to the monk seal, as well as dolphins and whales, and many birds, such as cormorants, Bonelli's eagles, warblers and swifts. Boat excursions to the marine park are available to book in Patitiri, the island's current capital and major port. For the more adventurous crowd, there are also diving excursions to the underwater museum off the coast of Peristera (one of the islands).
The Old Village, or Chora as it is known to locals, was the island's capital until the destructive earthquake of 1965, when the capital was moved to the coastal town of Patitiri. Resting on an altitude of roughly 200 meters, the village comprises restored houses on cobbled, narrow streets, interspersed with Byzantine-era churches and many small crafts shops. Due to its altitude and orientation, the Old Village offers captivating views of the Aegean Sea, as well as charming, very popular sunset views in the summer.
