About Cilan
Cilan is a small hamlet on the south eastern tip of the Ll n Peninsula which is circumvented by the Wales Coastal Path. The National Trust owns part of Mynydd Cilan after it was gifted in the 1950's by the Keating sisters who owned Plas yn Rhiw. Much of Mynydd Cilan is common land where common rights holders often graze their livestock. Mynydd Cilan is ecologically important, being a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest, Special Protection Area, Special Area of Conservation, Important Bird and Biodiversity Area (an important feeding and breeding area for the chough) and is part of the Ll n National Landscape. Mynydd Cilan headland has views of Porth Neigwl (Hell's Mouth) to the west and Porth Ceiriad to the east. It is only accessible by single track road and a network of public footpaths.
