HOW THE RENT TO BUY SCHEME WORKS -
An exciting way to "try before you buy." Set up to assist those who have no deposit to purchase a new home at the moment and can therefore not obtain a a mortgage.

The Rent to Buy Scheme allows you to live in the home whilst saving a deposit to purchase it. Homes are available on 12 month assured shorthold tenancies with an affordable rent 20% less than market rents.

After January 2027 you may have the opportunity to purchase the property on a share ownership basis. Please note the option to buy the property is not guaranteed and will be at NCHAs discretion, based on an independent market valuation at the time. Please note, should the property continue to be rented after January 2027, we would not look to evict tenants from properties, however, should should the business plan change in the future and NCHA wanted to sell the property, then this may change.

Viewings cannot take place without the approved shared ownership application form. To be eligible for shared ownership you cannot currently own or part own a property and you must have a household income of less than £80,000 per year.
