Dowry Square, Hotwells

The home.

Formerly a historical medical institution founded in 1799, this grand building situated on the East side of Dowry Square is a striking example of the eras architecture. The flat is located on the hall floor and features the high ceilings and huge windows you'd expect of what were once the receptions. Dowry Square is Bristols oldest Georgian Square, dating back to 1721 and is renowned for some famous residents. It's where Johann Schweppe invented carbonated water and was also home to Humphry Davy, inventor of the Davy lamp.

Living in Hotwells

Hotwells is a historic part of Bristol whose name derives from the hot springs which bubble up through the rocks of the Avon Gorge underneath the Clifton Suspension Bridge and features many beautiful Georgian-listed buildings, and Victorian terraces. A short walk up the hill is Clifton Village, with its highly-regarded restaurants, and independent shops. New restaurants and cafe's such as Kibou and Foliage Cafe strike a pleasant contrast to the well-established and ever-popular Coronation Tap, Portcullis Pub, and beautiful views of the Avon Gorge Hotel.

Hotwells is also conveniently located close to Bristol city centre and the rapidly expanding Bristol Harbourside which has attracted a number of large employers and makes for a beautiful evening stroll. For wider green spaces .Ashton Court is also just a short walk through Clifton, and over the Bridge, and offers amazing views over Bristol. For those looking for a day out South of the river, North Street in Bedminster is a 20-minute walk across the impressive Greville Smyth Park. Bedminster is a popular suburb of Bristol and is well known for its many independent bars and restaurants.
