Description

HOMEOWNERS NOTE

When we saw Willow Cottage it was such a surprise after viewing identical houses lacking in character. Martyn took us there on the off-chance, even though the house wasn't in our preferred location. But we fell in love with it and bought it in 1999.

What caught our attention: the huge amount of off-street parking, the big garden, and the period features of the house. We changed the garden to our preferences, and the large circular patio was built for an above-ground pool that was very enjoyable in the summer.

I liked the garage for its huge size, and the versatility of the utility room. The garden gets lots of wildlife too, we've set up a field camera and have pictures of deer and foxes. We had many lovely evenings in front of the open fire during the long British winters.

The location is perfect for walking and cycling, with excellent country pubs nearby that attract people from further afield, but to us were just a short walk or cycle ride away.

When one of us retired in 2016, we wanted to live overseas but didn't want to sell Willow, we had too many memories there. Renting it out became the better option. But ten years on, there's no longer a draw of returning to the UK. It's time to find a new owner-occupier to give the house some TLC.

ALEX'S TAKE

Willow Cottage is a charming detached character home set on a generous plot just under 0.2 of an acre, located in the sought-after area of Finchampstead.

There are two points of access into the house. The main front door sits between the two reception rooms, opening into the heart of the home, while a further entrance at the side leads you in via the rear of the property.

Entering through the back door, you step straight into the breakfast room, which is open plan to the cosy kitchen. This is where the real potential lies. Subject to the usual permissions, this space could be extended and opened up to create a large kitchen, dining and family room overlooking the garden, ideal for buyers with future plans or those looking for a home they can grow into over time.

The front reception room features a bay window and open fire, perfect for relaxed evenings, while the separate dining room includes a log burner and works well for entertaining and family meals.

Off the kitchen is a downstairs bathroom fitted with a corner jacuzzi bath, plus a separate WC. To the rear of the house is a utility room, accessed externally from the garden.

Upstairs, both bedrooms are generous doubles, with the rear bedroom benefiting from an en-suite.

Outside, the wonderful east-facing garden stretches to approximately 200 feet in length and includes three vegetable plots, a shed, and a highly useful triple-length garage, offering excellent storage, workshop space, or future conversion potential subject to planning.

Offered chain free and sale ready, with searches pre-ordered and solicitors instructed, this is a strong opportunity for buyers looking to extend and create a long-term home in a popular village-edge setting.
