About the development
About Springfield M & M Homes
The Mactaggart & Mickel families had both been in the construction industry since the early 1900s. Registering as a limited company in 1925 Mactaggart & Mickel had already established themselves as housebuilders having already built over 3,000 homes in Glasgow and Lanarkshire.
Historically building as far south as Portland Street in London but it was their focus on Glasgow tenements that sealed their reputation for high quality housing. Throughout the 1950s and 60s the company grew in size and reputation. The growth of the company continued with expansion into Hillpark in Edinburgh where they continued to build until 2014. Innovative masterplanning at sites such as Riverside in Polnoon helped further establish the Mactaggart & Mickel brand.
Taking part in some notable events around such as the Glasgow Garden Festival, Homes for the Future and Glasgow's Glasgow exhibition also helped Mactaggart and Mickel grow their name.
In 2007 the company bought their own timber kit manufacturing facility. This allowed them to develop new building techniques, creating more efficient and sustainable homes.
In 2011 the company joined other developers and contractors as a partner in the City Legacy Consortium, which began work in 2012 on the Athletes' Village for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. The development was subsequently transformed into a new residential community in the Dalmarnock area of the city and received the Queen's Award for Enterprise in 2017.
Today Mactaggart & Mickel continue to deliver high quality new build homes across Scotland's Central Belt.
