Description

Exquisitely-renovated two bedroom top floor apartment of 650 square feet, within the handsome Peabody Estate which rests next to Camberwell Green. Chain free.

It is a surprisingly quiet spot, yet you are only a couple of minutes from the hustle and bustle of central Camberwell. Bus travel is seriously easy (and you can hop on a bus up to Oval for the tube) and Denmark Hill Station is just a 14 minute walk - up gorgeous Grove Lane.

You can feel the history here. We love the old-fashioned street lamps and traditional ceramic tiling in the stairwells particularly. The original nine-block estate cost £30,000 to build and was opened in 1911, boasting "a warm red-brick exterior". Interestingly, this was Peabody's first set of homes to have entirely self-contained plumbing (meaning no shared sinks and toilets).

Take stairs to the fourth floor and your own front door. First off the hall you have your second bedroom, of over 7 feet by nearly 11 feet. Sisal flooring impresses.

Next along the hall you have your beautiful windowed bathroom with tasteful T&G to one wall, and traditional-style sanitaryware and fittings/taps etc. An over-bath shower gives you both washing options. A neat and useful cupboard sits next to the bathroom door.

On your right you have your principal bedroom, of over 15 feet by over 9 feet. There is a fitted wardrobe to one alcove. Stripped and oiled floors and a retained hearth (spot these throughout the flat) bring the smiles.

At the top of the hall, enter your big and bright reception room, with bespoke built-in cupboards and shelves to the alcove. This is over 12 feet by over 13 feet, with a southwesterly orientation made extra pleasant by having two windows. Views over Camberwell Green and beyond are noteworthy. Penthouse-life! Once again, stripped and treated wooden boards delight.

The flat that keeps on giving! Your independent eat-in kitchen completes the tour (more T&G here, it's all so smart!). We love the clever built-in bench seating (with storage plus custom-made seat cushioning) for casual through to formal meals with your best people. Your fitted kitchen has a pared back aesthetic, paired with wooden counters. A generous open-shelf is another welcome decision - both practical and attractive. New appliances (including washing machine) are included in the sale.

This is an excellent central Camberwell location, with easy access to Herne Hill, Brixton, Peckham, Dulwich and Oval as well.

Camberwell Green hosts a Saturday market which is small but lovely! Ruskin, Brunswick and Myatt's Fields parks are really close, and you have brilliant places to eat, drink and shop for luxury groceries within mere minutes of your door (alongside handy high street offerings supermarkets and gyms). Some of our favourite spots include Little Cellars, The Kerfield, The Camberwell Arms, Gladwell's, Grove House Tavern, Veraison Wines and Theo's.
