Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Living in Swan Street has been a really positive experience. The range of local shops is excellent, from major supermarkets to independent boutiques, making everyday errands quick and convenient. The food scene is a standout feature, with a huge variety of restaurants, cafés, and bars offering something for every taste, from casual dining to more upscale options. There are also several well-maintained green spaces nearby that provide a welcome break from the busy city atmosphere. Transport links are one of the biggest advantages — trams, buses, and train stations are all within easy reach, making commuting and getting around the city simple and reliable. On the street, there’s a lively but friendly feel, and while city living means some background noise and limited parking, it’s a small trade-off for the convenience. Bin collections are regular and the area feels well looked after. Overall, it’s a vibrant, well-connected place to live with great amenities right on your doorstep.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Building management has always been responsive and professional when issues are raised. Requests are tracked through the app, which provides great transparency and clear communication, and any problems are handled promptly and efficiently.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

One thing I wish I’d known beforehand is how strong the sense of community would be - it’s actually a real highlight. The regular social events organised by the management team make it easy to meet neighbours, which isn’t something you always expect from city living. I’d also recommend getting familiar with the resident app early on, as it’s really useful for logging requests, receiving updates, and staying informed about what’s happening in the building. Overall, it’s been a pleasant surprise how well supported and connected you feel living here.

Swan Street House in Ancoats is in a fantastic spot if you want to be right in the heart of one of Manchester’s most vibrant neighbourhoods. The location puts you within walking distance of excellent transport links, including nearby tram stops like Shudehill and regular buses that connect you to Manchester city centre quickly and easily plus Manchester Victoria and Piccadilly train stations are just a short stroll away, making travel around the UK very convenient.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Building management is super fast, the ila app allows you to put in a job and they are very quick to come and fix the issues. It super reliable and fast which I love.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I only have good things to say about living at Swan Street House, one thing I wish I knew was the amount of social rooms they have. Including the dining rooms, games rooms and many more.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

The Northern Quarter is easily one of the most characterful parts of Manchester. It’s creative, gritty in a charming way, and packed with independent energy you just don’t get in chain-heavy city centres. The streets are lined with bold street art, vintage shops, record stores, and some of the best coffee spots in the city. You can spend hours just wandering — grabbing a flat white, browsing vinyl, dipping into quirky boutiques, then stumbling across a hidden bar later in the evening. It feels effortlessly cool without trying too hard. At night, it shifts into something even more vibrant. The bars and live music venues give it a buzzing atmosphere, but it still keeps that intimate, indie feel rather than full-on commercial nightlife chaos. It’s not polished or glossy — and that’s exactly the appeal. The Northern Quarter feels authentic, creative, and a little rebellious. If you want personality, culture, and somewhere that actually feels alive, this is the place in Manchester.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

We’ve never had any problems but safety and maintenance has been good

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The internet isn’t the most reliable and it’s been tricky to fix
