Description

Steeped in character and set against the backdrop of rolling countryside, this elegant 1930s detached home occupies an idyllic semi-rural position in Chipstead, enjoying open vistas towards Banstead Woods. Thoughtfully maintained and beautifully presented, the property combines classic architecture with modern comfort, offering space, warmth, and the potential to extend (STPP) if desired.

A sheltered porch welcomes you into a bright and inviting reception hall, featuring tiled flooring and access to the garage. The main sitting room immediately sets the tone — a generous, light-filled space with a bay window perfectly framing sweeping views of the surrounding greenery. A wood-burning stove adds a homely ambience, ideal for cozy evenings in. Beyond lies a smartly fitted kitchen with extensive cabinetry, integrated appliances, and a range cooker that gives the heart of the home a country flourish. French doors open from the adjoining living room onto an impressive sun terrace, seamlessly linking indoors with the garden. An archway leads through to a charming dining room, providing a lovely setting for both relaxed family meals and more formal entertaining. Completing the ground floor is a contemporary cloakroom, while warm American Walnut flooring flows throughout much of the space, creating a sense of continuity and quality.

Stairs rise to the 1st floor which has three beautifully proportioned double bedrooms, each enjoying either views across Banstead Woods or over the landscaped rear garden. The family bathroom is fully tiled and stylishly appointed, fitted with a spa bath and shower, and complemented by generous built-in storage.

The gardens are a true highlight — private, mature, and designed for outdoor living. The main terrace stretches across the rear of the house, offering an ideal spot for al fresco dining and summer gatherings. Steps rise to a well-tended lawn bordered by trees and shrubs, leading to a peaceful seating area at the top of the garden, perfect for catching the last rays of evening sun. A greenhouse and additional storage sit discreetly beyond. To the front, a wide driveway provides ample parking and access to the garage.

The home is perfectly placed within walking distance of Chipstead Station and the village’s local shops, blending rural charm with commuter convenience. Chipstead itself is a picturesque village perched on the North Downs — tranquil yet well-connected, with fast rail links to London Bridge and Victoria, and easy access to the M25, Gatwick, and central London. The community is vibrant, enriched by local sports clubs, a golf course, and highly regarded schools such as Chipstead Valley Primary, Aberdour, and Chinthurst.

For leisure, the surrounding countryside offers endless walking trails, riding routes, and scenic woodland paths, while the historic Ramblers Rest pub — famous for its hearty food and warm welcome — is just a stroll away. From the moment you arrive, this charming home invites you to embrace the best of country living within easy reach of the city.
