We often say that we peaked with our first flat. Living here has been incredibly special and we feel lucky every day to call it home. Each morning we take our dog for a walk through the village and are constantly reminded how wonderful it is to have everything right on our doorstep, whether it is popping out for a pint of milk or meeting friends at one of the many cafés, restaurants, breweries or pubs nearby.
One of the things we have loved most about the flat is the layout for hosting. The large open plan living space means we can comfortably have big groups of friends and family over, something that is often difficult in flats where the kitchen, dining and living spaces are separate. We will particularly miss hosting our annual Christmas brunch, which has become something of a tradition here.
The balcony gets beautiful morning light, and during the warmer months one of our favourite rituals is taking our coffee and breakfast outside to start the day.
We also feel incredibly lucky to have access to such a large, secluded garden, which is rare in this area and perfect for summer evenings with friends.
The building itself has a lovely community feel. We genuinely get on so well with the other owners and consider many of them friends. In fact, when we went travelling for three months last year we rented the flat to a couple we met locally. They loved living here so much that they ended up buying one of the flats in the building shortly afterwards.
When we first moved in we thought the coach house and off street parking were simply a nice bonus. Over time they have become something we now realise we could not live without, and we know we will find it hard to replace.
