Description
THE PROPERTY
Tucked away in a fabulous location on the edge of the most pretty village of Morcombelake, first glimpses of this wonderful property are most impressive with its rendered façade under a pitched slate roof.
Dating back to the 1820s, this property has been lovingly restored and cleverly extended by the present owners, the property having undergone a fastidious programme of works. It is now immaculately presented with a perfect juxtaposition of old and new and offering very flexible accommodation, including a successful holiday let, helped hugely by its proximity to the Jurassic Coast and thriving towns of Bridport and Lyme Regis.
On first entering the property through the side entrance there is a real sense of charm and space, with a hall/boot room with flagstone flooring and a downstairs shower room, ideal for washing children or animals after a day at the beach. This leads perfectly into a snug room with a large woodburning stove, a wonderful winter room with wooden beams and a pretty wooden fireplace.
The family kitchen is a very good size incorporating a number of attractive fitted units and an electric induction hob and single and double ovens. There is room for a breakfast table and access to the gardens. The dining room sits perfectly alongside the sitting room, with a door into the sitting room and access to the terrace, ideal for entertaining. The front door, like many houses is rarely used as access is easier by the side, but leads into a large hall with Amtico flooring.
Also on the ground floor and worth a special mention is the fabulous sitting room, perfectly proportioned, again with a woodburning stove, and doors leading out to a paved terrace ideal for al fresco dining or an evening glass of wine.
The principal bedrooms are situated on the first floor, with three incredible spacious, light bedrooms. The two main bedrooms are a similar size and surprisingly large for a property of this type and both with attractive wooden flooring, incredible views, and both with en suite power shower rooms.
The third bedroom has steps leading down to it, ideal for children or guests, and again with an en suite shower room. The accommodation is incredible flexible and ideal to suit most families' needs.
THE ANNEXE
The real surprise however with direct access via the rear hall, is the most incredible annexe, and as mentioned, is utilised as a very successful holiday let, but would also be ideal for an elderly relative, guests, or even teenage children. This was very cleverly extended and designed by the present owners with a huge amount of flair and attention to detail, and it is not difficult to see why so many guests return year on year. You are immediately greeted by an exceptional open plan kitchen and sitting area, with double doors out to a private decked terrace with its own far-reaching views, a perfect place to relax after a day at the beach. Stairs lead up to a truly incredible double bedroom, unsurprisingly with even better countryside views, and even a glimpse of the sea. It is difficult not to smile when first entering this room, which is the first reaction of so many guests. There is also an en suite with power shower and large storage cupboard.
OUTSIDE
The lovely garden wraps ideally around the house with a lawned area and large front paved terrace with well-stocked borders. To the rear is a decked terrace, lawned area and garden shed, ideal for evening barbeques. To the side of the house is a large parking area, and large double garage and workshop.
All in all, this is a truly wonderful property in an idyllic yet very convenient location.
