SAN VALENTINO IN AC - PESCARA PROVINCE
A picturesque, hilltop town which is medieval in origin and located on the edge of the National Park of Majella. It is in a hilly area found at 450 metres above sea level between the rivers Orta and Lavinco. The town has two distinct, church, belltowers and there are still some relics of the ancient castle to be seen.
San Valentino in Abruzzo Citeriore is in an ideal position being less than 40 minutes from the airport, Adriatic coast and the ski resort of Passo Lanciano. The town of 1,922 inhabitants has plenty of facilities including food shops, chemist, post office, cash point, hairdresser, restaurants and bars.
There is an interesting museum which displays fossils and ambers and is worth a visit.
One of the interesting festivals, which is held at the end of each April, is the Feast of the Omelette (frittata). It is combined with different ingredients and served with excellent wine. There is also musical entertainment.
