Peace, that vital ingredient that is so often overlooked when seeking the perfect home, because it frequently comes at too high a cost in terms of inconvenience, being thought of as only available in isolated spots.
Here, however, a scant few minutes' drive from Mold, we find a home that fulfils its brief perfectly, by giving the silence you crave but without having to travel too far to find it.
In utterly immaculate condition and having a flexible layout that can offer two or three bedrooms, it has been built with a careless disregard as to cost, and features many little touches of luxury that would not look out of place in a high-end glossy magazine. Could it be for you? If you can find fault with this, you'd be an ideal candidate for today's mystery shopper...
Set on a quiet lane within an admittedly fairly determined walk of the Loggerheads country park, the home commands panoramic views across a shallow valley towards Gwernaffield. From this, you can deduce that the home, while not actually in the country park, is still surrounded by some delightful countryside, where relaxation is the order of the day.
In front of the home is a wide driveway that can easily hold several vehicles, while not interfering with access to the detached double garage, with its full width roller shutter doors.
Beyond the garage is a maintenance-free artificial lawn sloping up towards the home and beside this is a set of wide steps leading up to a paved area running across the front of the building. This also continues past the side of the home where, mounted high on the gable wall is the heat exchange pump that keeps everything nice and toasty in the winter months, before leading you to the rear garden.
Returning to the front, a brick porch stands proud of the front elevation and is where we enter the home via the attractive semi-glazed front door.
From here we step straight into the frankly 'enormous' lounge, kept bright and maximising the views through its pair of large picture windows. The room's natural focal point is provided by the impressive stone fireplace, which contains a large dog grate-style fire, in this instance powered by electricity. If this seems an extravagant way to take the chill off so large a room, you can feel reassured by the bank of solar panels running the full width of the south facing roof, and alleviating much of the cost.
In the right hand end of the room, a door leads through to an inner hallway, off which is the first of the bathrooms.
Stylishly finished with fashionable pale green paintwork and with a suitably waterproof 'wooden' floor, this contains a suite of a unitary hand basin with storage beneath, of course the obligatory lavatory and then a traditional bath. There's a folding glass side screen protecting the room from any over-enthusiastic frolicking beneath the twin headed rain shower. The heat pump and solar panels not only provide the home's main heating but also ensures a never ending supply of hot water; always good to know when you're covered in a thick lather...
Adjacent to the bathroom is a small utility room that houses the pressurised hot water tank and doubles as a useful airing and storage cupboard.
The remaining door reveals the first of the bedrooms, a well proportioned double room with the advantage of a large three door fitted wardrobe, negating much of the need for free standing furniture. That said, further storage is currently offered in the shape of a substantial chest of drawers, so dedicated fashionistas can relax, but for me, the crowning glory of the room remains the view. It is the sort of room where you wouldn't mind being just a bit ill, as you lie in bed looking feeble while staring out and relishing your Lucozade....
Returning to the far side of the lounge, another door takes us into the inner hallway, where to our left is the dining room. However, because of the scale of the adjacent lounge, there would be nothing to stop you from utilising a section of that to position a large dining table, which would free up this room as an additional bedroom / study, office, games room - or whatever you feel you are missing. Alternatively, you could simply stick with two bedrooms and enjoy that ultimate luxury - space, and as we move further along the hallway, you begin to see what I mean.
Opening the door to the principal bedroom, you are confronted by a bank of five doors of fitted wardrobes which, unless you plan on driving New Look into bankruptcy, should satisfy even the most fashion conscious.
Beside these is the door into the en-suite bathroom, and what an en-suite it is. Ceramic tiles on the floor contrast beautifully with those on the walls, while the fittings have quite evidently never seen the inside of B&Q, whatever their advertising blurb would have you believe. A unitary table-top hand basin sits above a useful storage cupboard and is complemented by a matching lavatory but what makes it truly special is the sheer scale of the shower; a walk-in arrangement stretching the full width of the room.
Back in the bedroom, the space is kept bright by dual aspect windows and, at the foot of the bed, a large set of patio doors opening out (surprisingly enough) onto the patio area, and giving the room the feel of a Mediterranean holiday complex, which can never be a bad thing. As well as the massive fitted wardrobes, there is still sufficient space for free-standing furniture, currently a large chest of drawers and a formal dressing table.
Adjacent to here, we find the galley style kitchen, but if ever a kitchen was misnamed, it is this one. Yes, it follows the notion of a galley style, but in this case, it is one seen through the eyes of a child, where everything is several sizes bigger than you imagined and nowhere is this more evident than in the space on offer here.
Several chefs could work away in here in complete harmony, never getting in one another's way, and the quality visible in the shape of the quartz work tops make it a fabulous place to be. There is a fixed breakfast bar beside the entrance for casual dining, which in turn sits opposite another set of patio doors furthering Mediterranean theme and giving an Al Fresco feel to your morning coffee.
Outside, there is a slightly sunken aspect of the patio, in the way it has been cut back into the slope of the ground which produces a sheltered haven where you can take advantage of the best of the weather. Steps rise up to the again, maintenance-free main lawn, to one side of which sits a modern and evidently new Garden Room.
This is made mainly of glass, with a steel frame, which will provide comfort and shelter for many years without attention, while its classy wood lined walls, installed power and light, will ensure plenty of use and all year round!
From this lawn, we can access the top tier, which contains not only several different dining areas but also a large brick-built BBQ and from where all the views that help make this home special, are there to enjoy. Did I mention that it made you feel you were on holiday? Except you aren't, and this could be your reality, so give us a call today and let us show you around...
