“Our parents bought the house back in 1982, moving in with three young children and a labrador. At the time it needed a huge amount of work, no heating, no carpets, bare walls, and over the years our dad poured so much time and love into transforming it into the home it is today.
It’s been the backdrop to decades of family life. All of us, along with grandchildren and great-grandchildren, have played in the garden, which has always been a real highlight. Our dad spent hours out there, creating beautiful flower beds and caring for the garden, and there’s still a wonderful apple tree that stands proudly today.
The house has always been a place to bring people together. From bonfires with neighbours to Christmas parties and family celebrations, it’s been full of life. Even the pets, three labradors and a cat, absolutely loved it here.
It’s been a truly special family home for over 40 years, and now it’s ready for its next chapter.”Step through the front door and into a handy porch before moving into a central hallway, where stairs rise ahead and a useful storage cupboard sits neatly beneath. From here, the layout unfolds with a real sense of space and, importantly, the opportunity to create something special."
At the front, the dining room is filled with natural light from a bay window, with a chimney breast and fireplace with gas fire adding character. It’s easy to imagine this as a warm, sociable space once updated, perfect for family meals and entertaining.
To the rear, the lounge is a bright and generous room, with floor-to-ceiling windows and a glazed door opening onto the garden. It already offers a lovely connection to the outside, but with some modernisation could become a standout living space.
The kitchen sits centrally in a practical T-shape, with views over the garden and fields beyond. While it would benefit from updating, the footprint is excellent and offers plenty of scope to redesign into a contemporary kitchen-diner. Just off here, a second sitting room provides a quieter retreat, with patio doors out to the garden, ideal as a snug, playroom or even part of a larger open-plan transformation.
A second hallway adds real flexibility, with its own external access, storage, and a ground floor wet room. Alongside this is an additional bedroom or reception room, connecting back through to the sitting room, making it well suited to guest accommodation, multi-generational living or a dedicated workspace.
Upstairs, the bedrooms are well-proportioned. The main bedroom sits at the front with built-in wardrobes and a bay window, while the second double enjoys fitted storage and fantastic views to the rear. A third bedroom offers versatility as a nursery or home office, and the shower room completes the floor.
Outside is where the property really comes into its own. Sitting on a wider-than-average plot, there’s off-street parking to the front and access down the side to a fantastic rear garden. A gravelled seating area leads out to a generous lawn with established planting and a wildlife pond, all backing directly onto open fields. It’s a setting that’s hard to find, offering a real sense of space and privacy.
Overall, this is a home that needs updating, but the potential is clear. With its size, flexible layout and incredible position backing onto fields, it offers a rare opportunity to create a long-term home tailored exactly to your taste.
