Seller Insight
Noah’s Ark is a very special home, and Monika, the current owner, says it has been a much-loved family home. She explains that twenty-one years ago, her builder husband discovered what was then a dilapidated house with attached barns and immediately saw that it was a perfect renovation project.
The house was already named Noah’s Ark and rather than change the name he kept it, as the distinctive shape of the house and barns with its striking structure and lines, evoked the image of an upturned boat. The name perfectly captures the great character and charm of the property.
Carefully restored to an exceptional standard, the home retains its original beams and features while offering all the comforts of modern living. The result is a spacious and welcoming home that has been meticulously and lovingly maintained throughout.
The warm and inviting kitchen is the heart of the home. The AGA provides comfort and warmth and creates a natural gathering place for family and friends. It’s easy to imagine long relaxed meals around the table, children doing homework and parties with everyone gravitating to the kitchen.
The living room is equally impressive, offering a generous space where the attractive beams reflect the history of the house. The wood burner brings a cosy glow in the winter and in summer French windows can be thrown open, seamlessly connecting the house with the garden beyond. It is an all year room.
The principal bedroom is a true sanctuary, and the architectural design allows the beams to rise dramatically to the ceiling, echoing the curved shape of the upturned hull of the ‘ark.’ The room is both large and restful and not just for sleeping hut somewhere to relax and have time out.
The garden extends the living space even further. With its lawns, patio, fruit trees and vegetable plots it has the sense of an outdoor summer room, a place to relax and savour the changing seasons.
Sunrises and sunsets are particularly striking, adding to the sense of tranquillity that defines the property. It is a green oasis where you can savour the plentiful wildlife and feel a million miles from anywhere.
However, Doddington village offers a friendly, active and welcoming community with clubs and societies centred round the village hall, and nearby Ramsey, Chatteris and March provide convenient access to shops and leisure facilities. The surrounding countryside offers endless opportunities for walking whilst there is fishing and boating on the local canal. Monika says the children were born in the house and it has been the perfect safe and natural place for them to grow. She is sad the time has come to relocate but takes away many very happy memories of Noah’s Ark and the life it gave them.
