There is a useful farm shop in the hamlet, with easy access to nearby towns such as Petworth and Arundel.

Petworth is a picturesque and traditional market town and offers an extensive range of amenities including a local supermarket, doctors surgery, pharmacy, two pubs and a diverse range of shops. Pulborough less than 5 miles north, which also offers two supermarkets, petrol station, churches and a bank, in addition to the main line railway station offering services to Gatwick Airport and London (Victoria and London Bridge), with journey times from around 72 minutes. Amberly just 3 miles east would be the closest station to the property. Other towns nearby include historic Arundel, 6 miles south, with its castle, Roman Catholic cathedral and wildfowl centre, as well as the cathedral city of Chichester, 13 miles south west, where a comprehensive range of shopping, leisure and cultural amenities may be found.

Road communications are good, with the A29 providing the north/south link between the coast and London via the A24 at Dorking that also connects with the M25 for access to Heathrow and the national motorway network. There is a wide selection of schools in the area, including Dorset House, Seaford College, Slindon College and Windlesham House.

Recreational opportunities within the area include golf at a number of local clubs, such as the West Sussex Golf Club and at the world renowned Goodwood Estate with their two courses, The Downs and The Park.
