Description
This is a very historic home, the first mention of a dwelling here being in 1332, the original part of the present dwelling dating from around 1400, with a first floor and fireplaces added in 1470. An illustrious list of former owners with connections to Corsham Court to The Long family and more recently the Neston Estate, from whom the present owners bought in 1992.
The farmhouse has a rendered front wall with exposed stone rear façade under a stone tile roof with mullion windows. The adjoining barn was added in the 16th century, with stone rendered façade and stone tile roofing. A central grand stone porch with stone arch and studded oak door lead into a large reception hall with flagstone floors and exposed oak panelling, giving you a flavour of what is to come. Throughout the house are huge open inglenook fireplaces, large flagstone flooring, oak panelling, stone mullion windows and exposed beams and trusses.
The main house accommodation has large and light filled rooms over two principle floors with further attic bedrooms and storage above. The adjoining barn has been used until recently as substantial office space over two floors, recently obtaining change of use to residential should one wish. Off the back of the main house is a old brewery washroom with it old pump for the well, above being a self contained studio annexe.
At the front of the house is a large parking area, whilst to the side of the house are numerous single storey barns used for storage, workshop space and one housing the bio mass wood pellet boiler. To the front of these is a formal courtyard garden that leads through to the heated outdoor swimming pool with a changing room and shower and a recently added wooden deck to the side of the pool with a bar and light and power, creating an excellent al fresco entertaining area. Behind the house is a walled garden with mature trees around a level lawn with flowering and shrub borders.

Situation
The property is set with a small number of neighbours along a private drive surrounded by protected rural fields with wonderful walks on your doorstep. It is ideally placed for access to the picturesque and historic former market town of Corsham which has many buildings of architectural significance and is located on the southern edge of the Cotswolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The town meets most day to day needs with a range of shops, cafes, boutiques, restaurants, leisure centre, doctors surgery, public houses and schools. The Georgian city of Bath provides a wealth of leisure, retail and cultural activities. Chippenham has access to Junction 17 of the M4 motorway and its mainline railway station provides frequent services to Bristol, Bath, Swindon, Reading and London Paddington in 1 hour 10 minutes.
