This fortified town is an amazing open-air museum with remaining traces of the walls, entry gates, two towers, several defensive houses and fascinating palaces.

Tornareccio is a farming town, renowned for its dairy products and beekeeping. Sulla, wildflower, acacia, rhododendron, eucalyptus and orange are just some of the delicious types of honey that are produced in the capital of Abruzzo-s honey production. The honey can be combined with many dishes and complements pecorino cheese, superbly.

The 1,807 residents have access to many shops including supermarkets, chemist, post office, cash points, petrol station, bars and restaurant.

Every year, during September, the historic centre hosts the ‘Tornareccio Regina di Miele- festival. An exhibition of honey and typical products with display, tasting and sale.
