A Note from the owners:

We've lived at Fox Cottage happily for twelve years, and the amazing array of things on our doorstop was always the trade-off that made it extremely enjoyable: yes, there's some road noise at certain times of the day, but for the most part it's not something you really notice — and in exchange you get a lifestyle that's genuinely rare to find within easy reach of London — golf, running, dog walking, polo, Michelin-starred dining, and children's first bike rides, all within a few minutes' walk of home.

We, our daughter, and our two dogs, are genuinely sad to be leaving Fox Cottage and the Shrubbs Hill area, and we hope its next owners enjoy it every bit as much as we have.

Fox Cottage sits in the Shrubbs Hill part of Sunningdale — in a genuinely unrivalled position in terms of its location with respect to local landmarks, all on foot from your own front door. Turn left or right out of the drive, and you're on Wentworth's grounds within a minute, including the West Course, which hosts the PGA Championship once a year, and the East Course alongside it.

For dog walkers and runners, the choice of routes is extraordinary. Our own favourite was the part of Chobham Common that sits right next door to Wentworth — genuinely beautiful, and the walk we did most days with our dogs for twelve years. Beyond that, there's Wentworth's open grounds which provides endless amazing routes, Coworth Park's grounds and Virginia Water's lake circuit (part of Windsor Great Park) for a longer weekend outing — all reachable on foot, with genuine variety and never a need to drive to a trailhead.

Cross the road and head up the bridleway, and you're at Coworth Park — a 5 star hotel and home to numerous polo season's matches, beautiful grounds walks, a world class Spa, and some outstanding dining and bars, including Woven by Adam Smith, a Michelin-starred restaurant, alongside The Barn and The Drawing Room for more relaxed evenings.

The roads immediately around the cottage are lovely walks in their own right too — Shrubbs Hill Lane, Heather Drive, and West Drive among them, all quiet, leafy, and lined with some of Sunningdale's finest houses. Perhaps most remarkably, Fort Belvedere sits almost directly across the road — the very house where Edward VIII signed his Instrument of Abdication in 1936, having fallen in love with Wallis Simpson. It's a rare and quietly extraordinary piece of history to have on your doorstep, and it sits within the wider Crown Estate and Windsor Great Park, whose parkland, gardens, and woodland stretch out beyond it for walking, running, and cycling. A little further on is Guards Polo Club at Smith's Lawn, one of the sport's most famous grounds and regularly graced by members of the Royal Family.

Close by is Sunningdale High Street. Popular local state schools include Charters, Holy Trinity St Francis and St Michael’s. Private schools include Bishopsgate, Coworth Flexlands, Hall Grove, Heathfield, LVS, Papplewick, St George’s, St Mary’s, Sunningdale and The Marist. Nearby places of interest include Ascot Racecourse, The Berkshire Golf Club, Coworth Park, Guards Polo Club, Legoland, The Lexicon, Sunningdale Golf Club, Swinley Forest Golf Club, Wentworth Club and Windsor Great Park. The nearest train station is Sunningdale where trains run to London and Reading. Sunningdale is also convenient for the M3, M4, M25 and Heathrow Airport.
