Stephen Street, Redfield

I have absolutely loved living here. The house has been incredibly versatile over the years, working well as a spacious vibrant space for four people and, as a comfortable home for just my partner and me. I love how light and spacious downstairs is, and the recent refurb has really given it such a nice vibe!

The home

This three-bedroom terraced Victorian home on Stephen Street sits in the heart of Redfield, offering generous space across three floors and a great deal of period charm. Extending to 120 sqm the house has been thoughtfully renovated throughout, combining contemporary finishes with careful preservation of original character. The ground floor opens into a welcoming hallway with beautiful arched detailing, leading through to a bright living room complete with an original cast iron fireplace. Beyond, the generous dining room enjoys excellent proportions and plenty of natural light, while the kitchen has been fitted to a high standard with sage-green shaker cabinetry, a brass mixer tap, and quartz worktops, a considered, elegant space that balances style with practicality. There is a bright lean-to lean-to at the side of the kitchen with access to the back garden and a downstairs WC.

Upstairs on the first floor, two bedrooms are arranged off the landing. The larger is a well-proportioned double, with a bathroom with separate bath and shower, while the second smaller bedroom at the rear side enjoys good natural light throughout the day. The top floor is home to another good-size bedroom with additional storage and an en-suite.

The outside space

To the rear, the garden is a blank canvas with real bones: a multi-level stone terrace wraps around the back of the house in a horseshoe arrangement, with steps connecting the different levels and established climbers softening the boundary walls. It's a private and sheltered spot with real scope to be made into something special.

Living in Redfield

Stephen Street is quietly tucked away, yet remarkably well connected; a combination that's hard to come by. Church Road is just a minute's walk, bringing favourites such as Loaf, Preserve, and Southfield Deli within easy reach for daily life. Lawrence Hill station is a short walk away for rail connections, and St George Park is close by for green space. Head the other way and Easton is easily accessible on foot, with St Marks Road home to Bristol Sweet Mart, The Garden of Easton, Este Kitchen, and Matter Wholefoods, as well as No 12 Café, The Greenbank pub, and Public Market.
The Bristol to Bath Cycle Path runs directly across the road, making the city centre a ten-minute ride away, with the Old Market Assembly and The Ill Repute perfectly placed for an en-route pause. The path also stretches out towards Bath for longer weekend rides. For fitness, PureGym is a seven-minute walk and David Lloyd a ten-minute drive. Families are well served by Whitehall Primary School and May Park Primary nearby, along with Easton Leisure Centre and Bristol Hawks Gymnastics Club. The M32 and A431 to Bath are both easily accessible by road.
