Description

Owners Comments…

When we first walked through the front door of Redwings, we knew it was somewhere special. Built around 1914, it has all the character and generous proportions you'd hope for from an Edwardian home, yet over the years we've carefully modernised it to suit family life without losing the features that made us fall in love with it in the first place.

The house takes its name from the Redwing thrushes that visit our garden every autumn, something we've always looked forward to each year. It's those little moments that have made living here so special.

One of our favourite spaces has always been the open-plan kitchen and family area. It fills with natural light throughout the day, with views over the east-facing garden, and the bi-fold doors make it feel like the garden becomes part of the house during the warmer months. Whether it's family breakfasts, hosting friends or simply enjoying a quiet morning coffee, this room has always been the heart of our home. Having the pantry, utility room and boot room tucked away has also made everyday family life incredibly practical.

Throughout the house we've tried to respect its Edwardian heritage. The beautiful stained glass, high ceilings with original coving, sash windows and generous room sizes give it so much character, while decorating in soft Farrow & Ball tones has created a calm and timeless feel. We've also added plantation shutters throughout, which we think really complement the style of the house.

Since moving in, we've invested heavily in improving the property. We've installed three beautiful new bathrooms and a new cloakroom using Burlington sanitaryware, Roseberry furniture, Booth & Co brassware and Truestone shower trays, creating spaces that feel both luxurious and in keeping with the age of the home. Two of the bathrooms even feature Aqua televisions – a little indulgence that we've thoroughly enjoyed.

Comfort has always been important to us too. Underfloor heating throughout the ground floor keeps the house wonderfully warm in winter, while the cast iron radiators upstairs retain all the charm you'd expect from a period property. We also upgraded the loft insulation when we moved in, making the house incredibly cosy during the colder months.

Outside, the new block-paved driveway comfortably accommodates five or six cars, something that's proved invaluable whenever friends and family visit. We also replaced the front door with one from The London Door Company, giving us extra security and improved insulation.

We've loved being able to walk into the village whenever we wanted, head out for peaceful walks around Heath Lake, or pop to David Lloyd in just over ten minutes. Although everything is close by, the house enjoys a wonderfully private setting away from a modern estate, which gives it a real sense of space and tranquillity.

Redwings has been an incredible family home and has given us so many wonderful memories over the years. We hope the next owners enjoy it just as much as we have.

Dan & Neil Estate Agents’ comments…
Some homes are simply nice. Others leave a lasting impression from the moment you pull onto the driveway, and this is definitely one of them.

From the gorgeous frontage and generous parking to the beautifully finished interiors, every room has been thoughtfully designed and impeccably presented. The heart of the home is the stunning open-plan kitchen, dining and family space, where bi-fold doors blur the line between inside and out, making it the perfect place for everything from busy family mornings to long summer evenings with friends.

Upstairs, the bedrooms are spacious, elegant and filled with natural light, while the luxurious bathrooms give the home a real boutique hotel feel. Outside, the private garden offers plenty of space for children to play, entertaining guests or simply relaxing after a busy day.

Homes finished to this standard, in such a desirable location, don't come to the market often. If you're looking for somewhere you can simply unpack, settle in and enjoy from day one, this deserves to be at the very top of your viewing list.
