A little of the History.

Following much research, it was found that this area of the Hall was redesigned as an afterthought. The Hall was built, but not ready to move into, when the wife of George Mayall, Esther, passed away. It was decided that Georges 2nd son, Edmund Lees Mayall and his wife Martha along with two of their children, Mary and Alexander would also move into the Hall. To that end this suite of rooms was converted into a Nursery along with a bedroom for the Nurse (Nanny) Lizzie Price. The current lounge and main bedroom were joined as one to create a large play space and a range fireplace was installed instead of the usual type. When creating the apartment some of the original wallpaper depicting "The Pilgrims Progress" was uncovered. It was in black and white.

Mossley Area.

The property is situated in an elevated position overlooking the area of bottom Mossley, within the beautiful grounds of the Park. Just a short stroll to the rail station.
Ideal for the Manchester commute, just twenty-five minutes.

Socially, Mossley benefits from being a part of the Saddleworth Brass Band festival, The George Lawton Hall and Theatre is situated on the high street hosting the usual theatre events plus well supported quarterly Town Markets for local producers/crafts etc.

There are many annual community events locally. The Festival of lights and the lantern parade at Christmas, The "Event" in Mossley Park, Yanks weekend in Uppermill to name but a few. Good local restaurants provide Italian, Thai, Asian and Chinese cuisine and there are a number of fine dining as well as country pub restaurants locally. There is amazing countryside and walks on the doorstep with Dove Stones Country Park and Lake just a short distance away and moorland tracks across the valley.

In short, a great place to live!
