HA Bryn Gwynant is a substantial premises occupying a plot of approximately 40 acres of land within the National Park overlooking Lake Gwynant. The main house was built in 1834, and this has been utilised as the main hostel. In addition, there are two bothies, Studio and Pen-y-Bryn Uchaf and a former coach house. It also includes an area of land on the foreshore of the lake and a Grade II listed formal Japanese garden. One of the bothies (Pen-y-Bryn Uchaf) is currently held on lease by a third party. The lease expired in 2017, but the tenants have continued occupation. The premises were purchased by the Youth Hostel in 1958 and have traded for many years under their umbrella. However, it has been closed for several years and not traded in any capacity. Due to the period of closure, the site in general and particular the buildings have fallen into disrepair. They will require major refurbishment and investment by the new owner. However, this is an outstanding site in an excellent location with huge scope for a number of uses whether personal, commercial or educational.
