Atmosphere of the 1920s Catania Liberty Style
During the passage from the nineteenth to the twentieth century, the whole of Europe was pervaded by a need for aesthetic renewal and innovation which in architecture was translated into the Liberty style. Catania, a city of commerce and industry, was in that period affected by a vast urbanization program born from the need to satisfy the comfortable lifestyle of its lively middle class.
Built around 1918 by a well-to-do landowner from the Catania hinterland, the villa appears very scenic and evokes the "triumphal" examples of Liberty style facades of the most famous European residences.
The external environment is enriched by the six centenary palms, which together with the strelitzias create a natural setting for the villa.
Composed of various levels, the facade is divided between sinuous and straight lines. The jumps in height and the semi-curved stairs create movement and make the exteriors very dynamic.
Today the property also retains the style of the time inside and has been tastefully renovated to be used as a luxury B&b.
The property is located in via Ingegnere, a quiet and well-served residential area close to the convenient underground stations "Borgo" and "Milo", just five minutes waking from via Etnea, while the Bellini garden and the baroque Piazza Duomo are about three kilometers far.
