Description
Plot 2, 244 Garahellie is a decrofted house site for which planning consent in principle was obtained in 2010 under reference number 10/00445/PPP which has now expired. This plot is located next to the A865 Daliburgh road.
Plot 2, 244A Garryheillie is situated on the coast at the West of the Island of South Uist close to the Askernish Golf Course –
South Uist has white shell-sand beaches to the west and heather uplands dominated by Beinn Mhòr to the east. The 20 miles of machair that runs alongside the sand dunes provide a marvellous habitat for the rare Corncrake. Golden Eagles, Red Grouse and Red Deer can be seen on the mountain slopes to the east.
Lochboisdale is the main settlement of South Uist, served by ferry to Mallaig/Oban on the mainland.
South Uist can be reached by ferry from Oban via Barra or from Uig on Skye to Lochmaddy or by the smaller ferry which weaves its way through the small islets of the Sound of Harris between Leverburgh on Harris to Berneray, connected by (non-tidal all-weather) causeways via Benbecula to South Uist and from the Barra ferry in Eriskay.
An underground electricity supply, the public water mains and a public sewer all cross the property close to the public road.
From Lochmaddy take the A867 to Clachan. Turn left and follow the A865 for approximately 16 miles when you will reach Garryheillie. The plot is on the right- hand side of the road across from UBC Hebrides.
