Description

The Property

Greater London properties (GLP) are delighted to bring this magnificent two bedroom garden flat in the heart of the North Dulwich triangle to market chain free.
This wonderful property encompasses the whole ground floor and basement of this impressive Victorian property overlooking the popular Sunray Gardens and in the Charter North catchment.
The property has been under the same ownership for over twenty years and the current owners have created a stylish and homely space. Upon entering the property you are greeted by a modern eat in kitchen which is fully fitted with integrated appliances and as you walk through the kitchen you have a couple of stairs up leading to a very impressive lounge. This room has a large bay window with plantation shutters looking directly over Sunray Gardens, it also benefits from an impressive original fireplace, ornate cornicing and ceiling rose.

Just off the kitchen is a separate utility room (keeping the washing machine separate from the living space) and also provides access to the garden and has plentiful storage. As you head further down the hallway you come to a stylish bathroom with clever storage solutions and a power shower over the bath. The second bedroom is a good size and has hardwood flooring.

Finally you reach the master bedroom at the rear of the property. This really is a special sanctuary with large bay windows onto the private garden flooring the room with natural light.

The garden is partially paved with raised beds making it a tranquil and low maintenance space perfect for unwinding after a long day or for hosting guests.

There is also a presenter led video alongside the photographs which gives you a deeper understanding of the property and area. This really is a magnificent turnkey property in a wonderful location and we would be delighted to show you around

Location

Elmwood Road is a highly desirable residential street, with this home tucked away at the end of a peaceful cul-de-sac – making it quiet and safe. Perfectly positioned between North Dulwich and Herne Hill, the location offers the ideal balance of tranquillity and convenience, with excellent schools, strong transport links, and a fantastic range of local shops, cafés, and amenities all close by.

Local shopping is well catered for, with a useful parade of shops just around the corner (including the world-famous Ken’s Fish Bar), Christopher's Bakery, and Budgens. Sainsbury’s is a short walk away, and a host of independent shops, cafés and restaurants can be found in nearby Herne Hill and Dulwich Village. Herne Hill is also home to a lively Sunday market, adding to the strong sense of community and local character.

For leisure and outdoor space, residents are spoilt for choice: Sunray Gardens (directly opposite), Brockwell Park with its iconic Lido, Dulwich Park, and Ruskin Park are all nearby, offering extensive green space for walking, cycling, and family activities.

Education is a particular strength of the area, with a number of highly regarded schools close to Elmwood Road. Judith Kerr Primary School is within a few minutes’ walk, while Dulwich Village Church of England Infants’ School and Dulwich Hamlet Junior School (both rated Outstanding) are also nearby. Secondary provision is equally strong, with The Charter School North Dulwich (Outstanding) just moments away. For families seeking independent options, James Allen’s Girls’ School (JAGS), Alleyn’s School, and Dulwich College are all within easy reach.

Transport links are excellent, making central London easily accessible. North Dulwich station is only a short walk, providing services into London Bridge, while Herne Hill station connects to Victoria, Blackfriars, City Thameslink, Farringdon, and St Pancras International. The area is also well served by buses providing direct access to Brixton (Victoria Line). Together, these amenities, schools, and transport links make Elmwood Road an attractive location for families and professionals alike.

What the Owners Say.....

“I really loved living in this flat, both in my 20s and 30s and then when we returned a few years ago as a family while we did building works at our house nearby. It is in such a peaceful location, opposite the park and with no traffic, but at the same time really close to all the transport links, Herne Hill, Dulwich village and East Dulwich.

I really enjoyed the view from the living space - instead of looking at houses opposite you see trees and you can hear the ducks in Sunray Gardens. My kids loved going there while we stayed at the flat. It is also lovely to wake up in the bedroom to a view of the garden, which is south-facing and very private. I used to open the patio doors and sit in bed in the sunlight drinking my coffee.

The open plan kitchen and lounge feels spacious and was great for entertaining. I had many a birthday party and Xmas drinks at the flat! The open fire in the lounge is so cosy in winter too. Having a separate utility was very practical and the cellar was super useful for storage. I have really fond memories of living here, as have my tenants - many of them got engaged and married while living in this flat! It’s a happy place."
