Description

Grade II Listed cottage ~ Two bedrooms ~ Located within the Osborne House estate ~ Beautifully presented and full of character

A Beautiful Grade Ii Listed Terraced Cottage - Located on the edge of the Osborne House estate, this 'hidden' home has a wealth of period features including the gorgeous windows frames, with original hidden shutters in the sitting room, two expansive bedrooms both with ensuites, a large sitting room and a sociable kitchen/diner. There are two parking spaces, secluded gardens front and back, a large cellar and the bonus of being CHAIN FREE. This welcoming home is a perfect permanent residence, holiday home or could become an investment as a holiday rental property.

Osborne Cottage - Steeped in Royal history, Osborne Cottage was built at the request of Queen Victoria to house the crowned heads of Europe when visiting her at Osborne House.
In later years, Princes Edward and George (later King Edward Vlll and King George Vl), who attended the Royal Naval College at Osborne, would visit Osborne Cottage then in 2015 the original Cottage was split into separate houses and accommodations.

Interior - This absolutely charming home is inviting and immaculately presented. Throughout there are original lozenge shaped windows which are thickly glazed and, in some rooms, the diamond shaped panes tilt and open individually. The kitchen dining room has warm oak flooring with the bedrooms, reception and hallways having thick plush carpeting giving a sumptuous feel around the property. The high ceilings make it airy and roomy and along with deep skirting boards, original radiators and doors, keeps the period feel to this cottage. There are recessed pull up shutters in the sitting room from when this was part of the much larger building.

Ground Floor:
Entering through the unique entrance door with its lion head knocker, you find the spacious kitchen with dining area. On entry there is access through a hidden door to the large cellar, excellent for storage, and the original passageway that linked Osborne Cottage to Albert Cottage which is now shut off.
The kitchen has an array of grey 'Shaker' style units with an integrated cooker, hob, washing machine and dishwasher, all finished with a thick oak worksurface. Within this bright and light room there are extra built in storage cupboards and plenty of space for a family dining table.
The sitting room is a wonderful relaxation space with a square bay window, flooding the room with light as well as a feature fireplace.

First Floor:
On this level are two generously sized double bedrooms, both with ensuite walk in shower rooms. The second bedroom has access to the loft and a working fireplace.
Both bedrooms give gorgeous views out over the Osborne House grounds, a vista filled with greenery.

Exterior - The house is approached by a long, shared driveway with a private car park that has two spaces allotted to this property.
A high hedge gives seclusion and makes the front courtyard garden private and obscured from the world, this shingled area is perfect to sit and relax and enjoy the birdsong.
The rear garden is equally peaceful and concealed, reached through original double doors this delightful space is low maintenance and an ideal area to unwind and rejuvinate oneself.

East Cowes - East Cowes is home to historic Osborne House, the holiday residence of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, now an English Heritage property available for visits throughout the year and has a golf club within its grounds. The town itself has many shops and amenities including a major supermarket, pubs and restaurants. The Esplanade has a cafe, park and tennis court, as well as the Red Funnel car ferry to Southampton. A short trip on the chain ferry, known locally as 'The Floaty', will transport you to Cowes and all its further delights.
