Description
This beautifully refurbished five bedroom semi-detached home on Portland Road unfolds across three impeccably designed floors, blending elegant family living with a distinctly contemporary interior aesthetic. Every room has been thoughtfully curated with a confident eye for colour, texture and detail, creating a home that feels both stylish and deeply welcoming.
The ground floor offers superb entertaining space, with two stunning reception rooms featuring plantation shutters, high ceilings and an effortless flow of natural light. To the rear, the stunning kitchen and dining space forms the heart of the home, with ample room for a substantial dining table and large tri-fold doors opening directly onto the landscaped garden. Designed for modern family life, the garden includes an inbuilt trampoline cleverly integrated into the lawn, creating a playful yet polished outdoor retreat. A separate utility room and cloakroom add further practicality on this level.
The first floor hosts four well-proportioned double bedrooms, including one with an en-suite shower room, alongside a striking family bathroom finished with beautifully chosen blue and white tiles, delivering a fresh, on-trend feel reminiscent of a boutique hotel.
Occupying the entire top floor, the principal suite has the atmosphere of a New York loft apartment, with exposed brickwork, impressive proportions, clever built-in storage and far-reaching sea views. The luxurious en-suite bathroom features a freestanding bath, creating a calm and indulgent sanctuary away from the rest of the house.
Throughout the property, the interiors have a refined editorial quality, balancing bold design choices with warmth and liveability. The result is a home with genuine personality and exceptional attention to detail.
Portland Road remains one of Hove’s most vibrant and convenient locations, known for its independent cafés, bakeries, restaurants and everyday amenities, all within easy walking distance. The beach and Hove seafront are moments away, offering an enviable coastal lifestyle with promenades, tennis courts and watersports nearby.
The property is also exceptionally well placed for families, falling within reach of several highly regarded schools including West Hove Infant and Junior Schools, Hove Junior School and Blatchington Mill Secondary School. For commuters, excellent transport links are close at hand, with regular bus services along Portland Road and both Aldrington and Hove stations providing direct connections to London and Gatwick.
This is a rare opportunity to acquire a substantial and design-led family home in a prime Hove location, where period character, contemporary style and coastal living come together beautifully.
What the owner says....
When the children and I first found the house we could see its potential straight away. Over the years I completely transformed it into a warm, vibrant family home that has been perfect for both busy family life and entertaining.
What we’ve loved most is the location. Everything is genuinely on your doorstep — cafés, bakeries, restaurants, the beach and brilliant transport links. As the children became teenagers, they loved the independence of being able to walk to friends, jump on a bus into town or head to the seafront whenever they wanted.
Some of our best memories have been the simple everyday things — paddleboarding after school, low tide dog walks, impromptu drinks on the beach and long summer evenings in the garden with friends while the children bounced on the trampoline.
It’s a house and location that makes life feel easy, social and full of energy, whilst still feeling calm and private once you’re home x
