Seller Insights

“We’ve loved living in the wonderfully friendly and peaceful village of South Rauceby for the past five years. It’s rare to find such a warm and happy community atmosphere. We feel so lucky to have The Bustard Inn (our local pub) and the village hall just a short walk away – perfect for an impromptu drink, a celebratory family meal, or just to get involved in the various village events, clubs and activities. The village is so welcoming, but there’s never any pressure to get involved.

The house is very light and spacious and provides a fantastic space for entertaining. The study is well-fitted out – ideal for working from home. We’ve also used the study as a playroom – it was great having a separate area for toys!

The garden is a substantial size. We love to sit in the garden listening to the birds or watching the horses in the nearby fields. There are lovely, far-reaching views over the estate and farmland, with the most spectacular sunsets. You can even spot a barn owl, resident at a nearby farm, in spring.

We have enjoyed creating a large wild patch in the garden, with a pond, fruit trees and a meadow flower area. It’s wonderful to see newts, dragonflies, butterflies and bees enjoying the surroundings.

We use one side of the large outbuilding as a potting shed. This part is fully insulated and fitted with running water, ideal for planting and propagating, while the other is useful for storing garden equipment. This outbuilding could easily be converted into a studio or home office.”

Our grandsons are very happy at the village school. They love the walk alongside the Rauceby Estate, especially in spring when the lambs are gambolling in the fields!

There are many and varied walking and cycling routes to explore in the local area. A particularly lovely place to visit is Belton House, a 15-minute drive from here, with its stunning gardens and opportunities for fun for our grandchildren and for us! Our grandsons particularly love the adventure playground, the miniature train and the maze – all of which have provided many hours of entertainment.

It won’t be easy to leave this house and South Rauceby. We have forged lovely friendships here and enjoyed the peaceful setting. The space and light of the house and garden have given us a feeling of freedom. It’s time for us to downsize now, but we’ll take away many happy memories of our time here.”
