Description

Green Farmhouse is an immaculately presented period farmhouse with extensive garaging and with two acres of mature gardens. The house is Grade II Listed and is of Gothic Revival style dating from the mid-19th Century. Built of red brick with some blue brick decoration under a tiled roof, the farmhouse originally formed part of the Kimberley Estate which was dispersed in the mid 1950's.

Inside, the reception hall has fantastic original mosaic Victorian flooring and large oak double doors to the entrance porch. The ceiling heights are excellent throughout and the rooms are light and airy offering good sized family accommodation. The principal reception rooms are south facing with marble fireplaces, cornicing and ceiling roses, and an inner hallway links through to the kitchen/breakfast room. The kitchen is finished to a high standard and has a kitchen island with a granite work surface and other oak work surfaces. The kitchen is semi open plan to the breakfast/garden room which has a high vaulted ceiling and direct access to the rear courtyard garden. Beyond the kitchen is the utility which has built in appliances and plenty of storage.

Upstairs there is an excellent dual aspect principal bedroom suite with built in wardrobes and an en suite bathroom. The remainder of the accommodation is flexible with six further bedrooms, many of which have delightful views over the gardens and grounds.

Green Farmhouse is approached via iron gates onto a long-gravelled driveway with tree lined lawn gardens on one side. The gravelled driveway leads to the front of the house where there is extensive parking, and to substantial outbuildings to the rear. The outbuildings make for extensive garaging but could have many other uses.

The gardens are extremely attractive with a mature yew hedge with access arch intersecting from one section to another. The gardens enjoy mature hedge boundaries with post and rail fencing, a range of broadleaf and coniferous specimen trees, and well stocked flower beds and shrub borders. Nearer to the house is a walled courtyard garden with loggia.

Green Farmhouse was built in the mid 1800's for the Wodehouse family, as part of the Kimberley Hall Estate, which has been in family ownership since the 14th Century. The property lies opposite the village green and is about 3 miles from both Hingham and Wymondham.

Hingham is an attractive Georgian market town with public house, local stores, bakery, chemist and newsagent. The historic market town of Wymondham offers a good range of facilities and amenities alongside schools for all ages, supermarkets including a Waitrose, independent cafes and popular restaurants and pubs. The renowned Wymondham College is nearby and there is also a train station with services to Norwich and Cambridge with connections to London. The Cathedral City of Norwich, the regional centre is 10 miles away and offers a comprehensive range of commercial entertainment, cultural amenities and excellent schooling. Norwich has a main railway station providing a regular service to London. On the north side of the city is Norwich International Airport which caters for both domestic and international flight destinations.
