Internally
Pleasantly located within a conservation area, Little Mariners is a charming fisherman’s cottage that has been sympathetically updated in recent years, blending period character with elegant modern comforts.
The property is light and airy throughout, retaining many attractive older features including panel doors, beamed ceilings, fireplaces, and exposed stonework, while modern additions include double-glazed wooden sash windows, electric underfloor heating to the stone flagged floor in the living room and kitchen / dining room, and recently updated electric radiators throughout.
Upon entering through the entrance porch and hall, the living room immediately impresses with its open beams, fireplace with wood-burner inset, and two shelved alcoves with cupboards to either side. A wooden double-glazed sash window with seating captures beautiful harbour and beach views, creating a warm and inviting focal point.
The views continue through to the kitchen / dining room, where a clever large opening in the dining area incorporates built-in seating. The modern shaker style kitchen is fitted with integrated appliances, with a rear door and steps rising to the garden. An older style timber door leads to a tasteful downstairs shower room, finished with style and a contemporary feel.
The first-floor landing has been thoughtfully opened up to create a relaxing sitting area, formerly a third bedroom, with a feature double-glazed window perfectly positioned to admire the wonderful views over the harbour. The main bedroom has a cast iron fireplace, wooden floor, and a double-glazed sash window with seat, again capturing the enchanting outlook. Off the rear landing is a stylish bathroom and a rear double bedroom, which benefits from direct level access to the private rear garden.
Externally
The front and rear gardens are a major attraction of Little Mariners, landscaped for ease of maintenance, privacy, and enjoyment.
To the front, the south-facing sun terrace has been designed to maximise the outstanding vista, providing an ideal setting for sun-bathing, relaxing, and alfresco dining. The part lime washed and exposed stone walls naturally complement the cottage’s character and setting.
To the rear, the private garden includes a selection of flowering shrubs and plants, together with a detached timber chalet measuring approximately 9’7” by 9’5”, complete with electricity. Subject to any necessary planning consents, the chalet offers potential for further ancillary accommodation. A log store is located to the rear of the chalet.
The Views
With its southerly aspect and elevated position, Little Mariners enjoys glorious views from all principal rooms and the front sun terrace. The outlook extends across St Mawes Harbour, encompassing Summers Beach, the Percuil River, Place, and the unspoiled, part-wooded National Trust owned St Anthony Headland beyond.
From morning light over the harbour to tranquil evening scenes across the water, the views are an exceptional feature of this charming coastal home.
Summary
An ideal holiday retreat, Little Mariners is equally suitable for permanent occupation. Decorated in relaxing pastel shades, the property offers a rare combination of character, comfort, privacy, and captivating harbour views.
Viewing internally is strongly advised to appreciate the views, character, contemporary style, and enviable position this most charming cottage offers.
