Description

"We love reading in the bright and sunny master bedroom and in the bay window with a view of the park and birdsong! We love the shaker cabinets, molding and the original wooden flooring upstairs- they make it feel like a proper solid old home. The location is the best - being right off Mina Park, near the high street with great restaurants and pubs, and near the farm and narroways! Such a quiet but fun and friendly area, while still so easy to walk into town."

The house

This charming three-bedroom Victorian terraced house in St Werburgh’s has been lived in with a lot of colour and personality. The current owners have made every room their own — deep teal and cobalt walls, original fireplaces, built-in shelving, gallery walls and vintage furniture throughout — but what sits beneath all of that is a solidly proportioned Victorian house with good room sizes and a layout that works well. The living room at the front is a comfortable, characterful space with an original cast iron fireplace and period cornicing. Through to the back, the dining room is the largest room in the house and a genuinely impressive space — big enough for a piano alongside a full dining table, with a large window looking out onto the garden. The kitchen is compact but functional, with a bathroom off the rear leading to the outside. The characterful bathroom has a full-sized bath with shower, pink walls, patterned floor and cobalt tile trim. Upstairs, the main bedroom is a generous double with original floorboards and a warm feel. There are two further bedrooms — another double that works well as a study or guest room, and a smaller third room currently currently doubling as a bedroom & home office.

The outside space

The rear courtyard garden is compact but full of character with established climbers and potted plants filling the walls. It's a private, lush little space that has clearly been well loved. Out front, the house has a small forecourt behind a low brick wall, with the striking red front door giving it a strong street presence.

Living in St Werburgh's

Tyne Street is a pretty residential street in the heart of St Werburgh's just off Mina Road & opposite Mina Park, an area of inner city Bristol in high demand. St Werburgh's is home to a number of popular cafes, shops and pubs including The Better Food Company shop, Napolita Café, The Cauldron, Wiper & True Tap Room, Beast Butcher's and the Miner's Arms. Bloc climbing gym, the largest bouldering centre in Bristol is also just around the corner. The area’s popularity derives in a large part from its sense of community, but also from its close proximity to Bristol City Centre, Greenbank and Cheltenham Road. The nearby M32 makes the area ideal for commuters, providing easy access to Bristol Parkway and in turn to the M4. St Werburgh's Primary School is very central to the area and has a good reputation, enhancing the pull of the area to families. St Werburgh's Nursery School is also close by and is rated ‘good’ by Ofsted. The St Werburgh's City Farm and Café is well known throughout the city and combined with the local allotments is a good example of the area’s individuality and independence from surrounding suburbs.
