Description

CONIFERS, 1 MAYFIELD CLOSE, GALHAMPTON, YEOVIL, SOMERSET, BA22 7AX

A delightful three-bedroom detached bungalow set in a lovely corner position in the heart of this popular village, close to Castle Cary.

The spacious and light accommodation includes an entrance hall, a kitchen, dining room, sitting room, conservatory, three bedrooms and two bath/shower rooms.

Externally, there is a wraparound garden, ample parking and a garage.

Accommodation
Conifers is a charming, much-loved detached bungalow ideally positioned in the heart of Galhampton. The property occupies a large corner plot, with mature gardens surrounding the property, along a private no-through road. The property enjoys excellent space inside (towards 1,600 sq. ft.) and out, and has immense potential to further improve.

Entering the property, you access an entrance hall in the heart of the property, which has various cupboards and doorways leading into the main reception rooms of the property. Parquet flooring leads from the hall into the sitting room, which is a light and bright room adjoining the dining room and conservatory. All reception rooms enjoy a pretty garden aspect, which is nicely private thanks to the mature surroundings. The kitchen has a range of fitted units with appliances, and although it could do with some cosmetic improvement provides ample space for cooking and entertaining. The conservatory enjoys the best garden aspect and has French doors leading out.

There are three bedrooms, all of which are double rooms, and two have built-in storage. The master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom, and the further two bedrooms are serviced by a family bathroom. The family shower room features an electric shower, basin, heated towel rail, and WC.

Outside
The well-established Gardens of 1 Mayfield Close are arguably one of its best features. They have been beautifully planted with well-established shrubs and many varieties of plants throughout the entire grounds.

There are plenty of shaded and sunny places to sit, and due to the gravel paths, they are relatively low-maintenance too.

In front of the property, there is a driveway providing ample parking, which leads up to the garage, which has an up-and-over door and light internally.

About the area
The semi-rural village of Galhampton offers a thriving and friendly community, an active village hall, a parish church and a popular pub. There is a wide network of footpaths on the doorstep, as well as horse riding and other outdoor pursuits.

The vibrant market towns of Castle Cary and Bruton are nearby.

Castle Cary is described by Sir Nikolaus Pevsner, the eminent architectural historian, as Somerset's prettiest town, set in beautiful, unspoilt countryside. The town is characterised by period buildings constructed of the distinctive honey coloured stone for which the area is well known. It remains a delightful small market town with a number of traditional shops and boutiques within the Conservation Area in which a policy of strict planning control operates to prevent inappropriate development.

Fashionable Bruton is also characterised by its historic buildings, as well as being home to the world-renowned Hauser and Wirth Gallery.

Sherborne, Wells, Shaftesbury, Glastonbury, Street, Frome, Wincanton and Yeovil are all close by and Salisbury, Taunton, Bath and Bristol are within easy driving distance.

Two miles away “The Newt in Somerset” is home to beautiful countryside walks set in the grounds of a Georgian country estate. Within the estate are a Hotel & Spa, Farm shop, restaurants and house & garden shop. Residents of Galhampton benefit from local residents’ membership rates.

On the outskirts of Castle Cary is the railway station with its direct line to Paddington and the A303 road link is a few miles south. There are excellent state schools in the area - Ansford Academy boasts strong exam grades and independent schools include the Sherborne and Bruton schools, Millfield, Wells Cathedral, Hazelgrove, and Port Regis.
