Location

Broadmayne is a vibrant village with a primary school, village shop, The Black Dog public house, village hall and the fine St Martin parish church.

The National Trust’s Ringstead Bay is just 4 miles and has an unspoilt beach, surrounded by farmland and dramatic cliffs and the Bay is popular for swimming, windsurfers and kitesurfers.

It is possible to walk to Ringstead Bay via footpaths which is about 3 miles.

The area is well known for its sporting and leisure pursuits which include golf at Dorchester Came Down, Yeovil, Folke and Sherborne golf clubs.

Sailing and water sports all along the Dorset coast, with marinas at Weymouth and Poole (Weymouth being home to the National Sailing Academy).

There is riding and walking in the surrounding countryside. The Dorset coastline is recognised as a World Heritage site and Weymouth is close by with its Georgian seafront and beautiful beach.

The county town of Dorchester is about 6.5 miles and provides an excellent range of facilities including shops, restaurants and pubs, several supermarkets including a large and a small Waitrose.

The recently developed brewery, known as Brewery Square, provides a popular Plaza, Odeon Cinema and restaurants including Cote Brasserie and Waggamamas.

On Wednesdays there is a weekly market. Dorchester has a direct service to London Waterloo. Bournemouth, Southampton, Exeter and Bristol Airports are all easily accessible offering connections around the UK, Europe and to other destinations.

There are good schools in the area both state and private. State primary school in the village, Dorchester Middle School, Thomas Hardye School. The county is well served by private schools too, with preparatory schools at Sunninghill school in Dorchester, Sherborne, Sandroyd, Perrott Hill. Senior schools include Sherborne School for boys; Sherborne School for girls, Leweston, Bryanston, Canford, and Milton Abbey.
