The hotel opened in June 2007 and, as well as the bedrooms, the hotel boasts a bar, restaurant/breakfast room, small gym and conferencing/wedding facilities.

The building is formed in two parts; approximately two thirds of which comprises the original buildings and facades which extend along the whole frontage of Leopold Street and part of West Street, as well as that facing the square. The remaining one third is a new build extension to the rear, providing additional modern bedrooms and is arranged over seven floors.

To the rear of the property, the hotel faces onto Leopold Square, with an external terrace area providing space for 90 covers with a water feature and public seating.

The square is surrounded by several bars and restaurants and is the venue of regular music and food festivals. Access to this area is via Leopold Street to the east and West Street to the west.
