Sellers view
When I first chose to move to Orpington, it was because of its unique balance of countryside and connectivity. Surrounded by beautiful woodland and green spaces, with lakes and rivers nearby for paddleboarding, it offers a wonderful escape from city life while still being incredibly well connected. London Bridge is just 15 minutes away by direct train, and the M25 can be reached within 10 minutes.
Over the past six years, I have fallen completely in love with this community. From the local pub and yoga studio to the parks and lakes, there is always something to enjoy. One of my favourite things has been watching the wildlife flourish year after year, with new ducks and geese appearing each season.
The Knoll is a truly special place to live. There is a strong community spirit, supported by an active residents' group that organises free open-air cinema nights on Broomhill Common, barbecues, local events and community activities, including the weekly quiz night at The Cricketers. I have been fortunate to have the most wonderful neighbours—kind, considerate people who genuinely look out for one another. We have shared many happy memories together, including enjoying the Priory Music Festival just across the road.
I never imagined moving from this home, but life changes and sometimes we have to adapt. Whoever becomes the next owner will be inheriting far more than a house; they will be joining a welcoming community and enjoying a peaceful, sunny retreat from the bustle of Central London. In the winter, the wood burner makes the house especially cosy, creating a warmth that is hard to describe and even harder to leave behind.
As you walk up the path, take a moment to look at the names engraved into the wall. They belonged to children who were given detention here in the early 1900s, when this was the headmaster's house. I always find myself looking for the repeat offenders, and it makes me smile to think that I have been able to play a small part in the continuing story of this remarkable home.
43 Moorfield will always hold a very special place in my heart, and I hope it becomes just as special to you.
