What is it like to live in Westerham?

Living in Westerham feels like having one foot in classic Kentish countryside and the other in a lively, characterful small town. The core experience is a blend of historic charm, independent shops, strong community spirit, and excellent access to London and Surrey - all wrapped in beautiful scenery. There is also an abundance of eateries offering varying styles of food which are renowned locally.

Westerham is a picturesque market town surrounded by rolling countryside and the North Downs. It has a compact, walkable centre built around The Green, lined with period buildings, boutiques, cafés, pubs, and restaurants. The town has a friendly, lived in feel - busy enough to feel vibrant, but never overwhelming.

Day to day, people pop into town for bread or coffee, walk the dog around The Green, and head straight into countryside footpaths that start almost from the centre. It's the kind of place where you "accidentally do five miles" on a walk. It is also in an area of outstanding natural beauty which draws in so many types of people.

Parking in the town centre is good with main car parks locally to the house if needed (Darent, Quebec Avenue, Fullers Hill)

Westerham is well covered by local bus stops, including:

The Green (Stops A & B) - central and most frequently used.
Hartley Road, The Paddock, The Flyers Way, The Kings Arms, Chartwell, The Grasshopper - all serving different parts of the town.

Buses connect Westerham to Oxted, Sevenoaks, Bromley, Edenbridge, and surrounding villages. whilst train links are best From Oxted (3.8 miles approx) and Sevenoaks (5.6 miles approx). Both are mainline stations and great for commuting. Motorway networks are also available with M25 close by for access to Heathrow, Gatwick (via M23).

Biggin Hill is also close by with its Airport for those plane enthusiasts. There is even a hotel where you can watch them land and take off whilst enjoying a spot of lunch or dinner.
