"What The Vendor Loves...

"Quarry Cottage has been our much-loved family home for over 10 years. Our children have grown up here and we always imagined staying longer and completing even more plans for the house. We hope its next owners will enjoy the opportunity to make it their own.

What we have loved most is the situation within the village – peaceful and safe, yet incredibly convenient, with stunning views towards Dartmoor. Within minutes of arriving home, you feel completely immersed in the countryside, while still benefiting from quick access to local amenities and the A38.

During Covid, we truly discovered how special the location is, with daily walks to South Knighton and along the River Lemon towards Sigford becoming treasured family routines. Being on the edge of Dartmoor, with Haytor in view, has given us endless opportunities for exploring the moor, wild swimming, pumpkin picking and Christmas tree farms – traditions our children will always remember.

The location is also incredibly practical. We are within easy reach of Exeter, Plymouth and Torquay for commuting, while Newton Abbot train station provides direct rail links to London, making day trips and travel surprisingly simple. We also love having the South Hams beaches close by, around 35 minutes away via the A38.

The village itself has a wonderful community feel, with regular family events at the village hall, from coffee mornings and Easter egg hunts to the highlight of the year – the fabulous annual fireworks display. We have also been lucky to benefit from excellent local schools nearby, including easy access to the Torquay grammar schools bus route from the village bus stop. We also love being close to Ashburton, Bovey Tracey and Liverton, with great local shops and cafés right on the doorstep."

Inside the house, the layout works beautifully for family life. In summer, the downstairs bedrooms stay cool, while the garden and climbing the apple tree have provided endless hours of play. In winter, we have loved cosy evenings by the open fire and watching snow appear on Haytor before heading out sledging.

We feel incredibly lucky to have lived here, surrounded by kind neighbours in such a friendly and supportive community. Although we are staying local because we love the area so much, leaving Quarry Cottage – especially for our children, who have never known another home – will be truly difficult.
