Description
The Tour
Set on Sheringham’s quiet esplanade, these homes occupy a peaceful part of the ever-popular town. They sit at either end of a terrace of three, all with striking pitched silhouettes consisting predominantly of brick and glass.
Entry is via a recessed porch, where a front door opens into each of the respective homes. In both, the main living space occupies the first floor and is arranged in a versatile open-plan layout with soaring ceilings. A beautiful Hacker kitchen lies at the rear, with white cabinetry, a natural quartzite countertop, a central island, and a wall of tall minimally-detailed walnut-fronted cabinetry. Appliances are integrated and include a downdraft hob.
The rest of the room is flexible in nature, with space for sitting and dining areas. Engineered wood flooring and white-painted walls provide a wonderful backdrop for art and furniture, while amplifying the beautiful coastal light that floods in through balconies and large sliding doors at either end.
Sisal-covered stairs ascend to the top floor, where there are two en suite bedrooms. At the front is a spectacular principal suite, where a tall pitched wall of glazing opens onto a private balcony. The sleeping quarters are entered via a dressing area; there is also an immaculate en suite bathroom with a freestanding Lusso Stone bathtub, a walk-in shower, and marble details.
There are two further bedrooms on the ground floor, that would work equally well as a snug, playroom or study. One has doors opening onto the rear garden. Another delightful shower room sits on this floor, with Villeroy & Boch fittings and terrazzo-style tiles. A utility room sits adjacent.
Outdoor Space
Fence-bound gardens extend to the rear of the houses, partly laid to lawn and partly with flagstone terraces. Steps ascend to the first-floor dining terrace in both homes, a marvellous spot from which to watch the sunset.
There are also two separate sea-facing balconies on the first and second floors, both with space for relaxing. North-facing, they provide wonderful settings for breakfast and morning coffee.
In front of the houses is space for parking, complete with an EV charging point.
The Area
Sheringham is a picturesque coastal town surrounded by woods and heathland, with quaint back streets. The town has retained its old fishermen's quarter, where brightly coloured crab boats are moored on the beach below the promenade.
It is home to excellent pubs, restaurants, shops, and the popular Sheringham Little Theatre, alongside its café, The Hub. Each year, Sheringham hosts a week of Viking-themed events in February, as well as the Crab and Lobster Festival, shared with Cromer, in May, and a spectacular carnival in August.
The North Norfolk coast is renowned as one of the most beautiful areas in the UK, with incredible sandy beaches, such as Holkham, and large expanses of protected marshland. It is also notable for its excellent places to eat, including Wiveton Hall Café and No.1 Cromer. A little further afield is The Gunton Arms, a traditional pub with rooms set within one of the area's historic parks.
The Norfolk Coast Path leads from the town to Beeston Bump, with incredible views over the North Sea, Sheringham, and nearby West Runton. There are many pretty villages and towns nearby, including Holt, an attractive Georgian market town with plenty of amenities, including independent shops, an excellent fishmonger, and a renowned game butcher. Black Apollo also roasts its own coffee.
From March to October, there are several historic houses to visit, including Sandringham and the National Trust properties at Blickling and Felbrigg. The Holkham Estate, with its stunning beach, wildlife reserve, and magnificent house and grounds, is also within easy reach by car.
Sheringham has rail services to London via Norwich. Norwich itself is approximately one hour and 55 minutes from London Liverpool Street by train.
