Description

BRICKWORKS SAYS

Tucked into the heart of Margate, this two-bedroom Georgian home unfolds across four levels. The current owner has carefully restored and refined the house, reintroducing period-style detailing, installing handmade hardwood sash windows and incorporating bespoke storage, while preserving its original character. The result is a home that feels calm, comfortable and distinctive.

The lower-ground floor kitchen balances old and new beautifully, with exposed flintwork, contemporary finishes and a pantry. Upstairs, the sitting room centres around a wood-burning stove, making it particularly inviting in winter, while the patio provides a sun trap over warmer months. The first floor hosts a double bedroom with built-in wardrobes and a workspace neatly integrated into the landing. And at the top, a second double bedroom sits alongside a striking jungle-green bathroom, with a boutique-hotel feel that makes an ordinary Tuesday evening feel a little more indulgent.

Being right in central Margate means everything is within walking distance. The beach, Old Town, Dreamland, Where Else?, independent shops, bars and restaurants are all close by. Morning coffee at Curve, a glass of wine at Pomus and two world-class galleries are part of everyday life here. Margate station is around 15 minutes away on foot, with high-speed services to London.

THE OWNER SAYS

I fell in love with the character of this home as soon as I stepped inside. I’ve enjoyed bringing the home back to life with warmth, colour and some TLC. It's lovely to sit around the kitchen table and chat while making dinner, or get cosy with the log fire on. In spring and summer, the patio is a lovely and warm sun trap. The location is so central but very peaceful. And I love the view across to the churches and leafy gardens from the bedrooms.
