Tucked just off the steps of Deià's Plaza de la Iglesia, this home carries with it layers of story. Once known to Robert Graves as "the haunted house of Deià," it stood empty for years as a bare-boned structure, weathered by time. When MoreDesign took it on, there were no modern installations. Just four stone walls and a hole in the floor where a bathroom had once been.

What came next wasn't a renovation, but a resurrection. The home was stripped back to its rock foundations and carefully reimagined using traditional lime mortars, reclaimed beams and locally made fixtures. The result is a living space that feels deeply connected to the village's heritage and completely adapted for modern life.

Set at the top of the village beside the church, the home is quiet, light-filled and inviting. A place to live, work, create and feel part of something bigger. With a commercial license in place, it also offers rare flexibility in one of Deià's most iconic locations.



The Exterior

A handmade olive-wood gate welcomes you into a soft, sunlit patio framed with native planting and a gently curved pergola. It's a peaceful spot for reading, morning coffee or a late breakfast under the canopy.

The dining room opens directly onto a quiet, stoned pedestrian street. You can imagine dinners with the doors wide open in summer, children playing just beyond the threshold and neighbours passing with a smile. The location offers a rare mix of openness and privacy. Close to everything, yet tucked quietly into its own corner of the village.



The Interior

The renovation by MoreDesign is both thoughtful and respectful. Everything has been reimagined using natural materials and traditional techniques: breathable lime mortar walls, reclaimed 16th-century stone inlays in the flooring, locally made ironwork and handmade brass hardware. There's underfloor heating throughout and air conditioning in all rooms except the naturally breezy ground floor.

The current layout includes three bedrooms, two bathrooms and open living spaces with a strong design sensibility and room to adapt. There's an alternate floorplan available from MoreDesign should you want to reconfigure, either to add another bedroom or tailor the space to your lifestyle.

What stands out most is the light, the flow and the sense of calm. It's a home that feels steady, textured and quietly luxurious without ever trying too hard.



What we love

This home really does feel like an extension of Deià's story. From the square outside to the materials within. It's rare to find something so beautifully restored, especially in a location like this. We love that you can walk to everything in the village, but still come home to such a peaceful place.
