Tregildry House
Gillan cove, Manaccan, The Lizard Peninsula, Cornwall
TR26 6HG

This stunning waterfront home is nestled in a beautiful part of Cornwall on the Lizard Peninsula.
This once former iconic hotel is now a beautiful spacious home and enjoys some of the most spectacular sea views this area has to offer.

It sits in an elevated and commanding position with breathtaking panoramic sea views out across Falmouth Bay, St Mawes and Gorran Haven beyond.

"The incredible sea views can be enjoyed from almost every room in this property - even the bathtub!"

In 2022 this property underwent a three year complete, full and extensive renovation by its current owners.
This work was carried out to a meticulously high standard, giving future owners complete peace of mind.

Flexibility
This ten bedroom property is spread over an exceptional 6685ft2, a rare amount of internal space offering a level of flexibility and income potential seldom found in a private coastal home.
Due to clever remodelling, the house flows beautifully as one main residence, while also lending itself perfectly to multi-generational living. It also benefits from three self-contained holiday lets, each with its own separate access, creating immediate income potential.

Tregildry House - For sale freehold

Ground Floor

Tregildry House is situated within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
The original building is believed to date back to the 1920s and has undertaken many transformations over the years and is famously known from its days as the former Tregildry Hotel.

The property is approached down a private no through lane. On arrival you're greeted with a large gravel driveway with ample parking for ten or more vehicles or boat trailers. There is also a double garage at the front of the property.

The double front door and porch leads through to a reception hall with the main staircase in front of you that leads you up to the first floor. Immediately to your left there is a cloakroom and to your right a conveniently located and rather large wet room - perfect for washing off those sandy toes and wetsuits after a day spent on the local beach. You will also find a downstairs W/C next door.

As you carry on through, a twin door set welcomes you into a large open plan kitchen/breakfast bar/dining room. From here, spectacular panoramic sea views take your breath away, which stay in sight for the majority of the property walkthrough. The kitchen itself benefits from Quartz worktops, One double sink at one end and a further single sink on the adjacent side.
There is a commercial size Gas stove and electric double oven, Wine cooler, dishwasher, 2 x American fridge freezers and a three meter long breakfast bar. The kitchen itself is very well laid out with plenty of cupboard space.

Sliding doors lead you out onto a spacious elevated terrace where those breath taking sea views can really be appreciated. A perfect space for entertaining/Al fresco dining and summer BBQ's. Below the terrace area is a good sized lawn.

Across the water you will see Falmouth & the famous St Mawes lighthouse where a very well known children's program was filmed in the 80’s.
The view extends across south Cornwall and on the clearest of days you can just about make out as far as the Plymouth coastline.

On from the kitchen you have one door that leads you onto a pantry/storage room then through to a large utility room offering generous amounts of storage cupboards oak worktops and another sink. Through another door you’re met with a second staircase leading you up to the first floor and also an interlinking door that takes you into one of the holiday let apartments. A very spacious one bed apartment complete with its own private courtyard, pergola and everything installed and ready for a private hot tub should you fancy installing one.

The other door off the kitchen takes you through to a lovely dining room and then into a spacious lounge. A downstairs office/storage room and guest bedroom with ensuite are also found on the ground floor.

“A really lovely touch this property offers is the professional lighting design - A combination of sensored lighting and multi purpose ambient controls lets you dial in your exact ambient lighting preferences.”

First Floor

The first floor can be accessed from two separate staircases. The main staircase leads you up to a lovely mezzanine area, the perfect spot to relax with a good book.

There's a set of sliding doors that take you onto the first of many balconies with motion activated lighting (throughout) where the views of St Anthony’s church and the Helford river can be appreciated.
An upstairs W/C and airing cupboard can be found in this area, also which houses one of our hot water cylinders. A second hot water cylinder is found on the ground floor in its own plant room. It mainly services the holiday let apartments and can be left off when it is not required.

As you continue on you are greeted with a lovely oak-slatted wall feature on the wide hallway, nearly twenty meters long, with floor to ceiling glass panels at one end perfectly framing features.

On this floor there are seven bedrooms. All the bedrooms are extremely spacious and five of these bedrooms offer the most spectacular sea views right from the comfort of your bed.

The master bathroom really has that “wow” factor. The current owners decided to step up a large freestanding bathtub so those stunning sea views can also be enjoyed whilst soaking in the tub. This bathroom is beautiful and has it all - with His and hers sinks, sensory lighting, a large walk in shower area with a large ceiling mounted rain shower head, heated bench, heated wall and of course underfloor heating. It certainly gives off that high end hotel/spa vibe that the designer had in mind.

“Tregildry House has a lovely flow and continuity about it that just works - Downstairs has a more traditional panelled country feel to many of its rooms, whilst upstairs a more modern approach has been adopted in the way of Oak slats featuring tastefully throughout and blending effortlessly with the Oak doors.”

The master bedrooms offer walk in wardrobes and decked balcony areas looking out to sea views.

Interlinking access to another one of the holiday lets can also be found on this floor. A spacious two bed apartment offering fantastic views over Gillan creek, St Anthony’s church and the Helford river.

At the far end of the first floor is a very spacious bedroom with a bathroom and currently an upstairs office that could easily be turned into a fourth holiday let.

A third staircase takes you up to a further holiday let where there is a one bed apartment.

“A lot of attention to detail has gone into the renovation to make this home work so perfectly. The current owners were extremely particular on the high end finish they wanted to achieve and it certainly shows throughout”

The immediate area is home to an amazing collection of wildlife throughout the year.
The area is renowned for its wealth of stunning coastal walks. A beautiful 3-mile coastal walk takes you from the house to Porthallow and The Five Pilchards Inn and Fat Apple cafe.
The walks along Gillan Creek, The Helford River and to Frenchman's Creek (The setting for Daphne Du Maurier’s famous novel) are arguably some of the most picturesque in the country.
