The Meikleour Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) is centred around an area of woodland scrubland within the holding. The SSSI encompasses Dowie’s Hole and extends to the River Tay along the southern boundary.

The central area of the holding and the southern boundary are identified as having a 10% risk of flooding each year, according to the SEPA Flood Maps Database. With the remainder of the property classified as having a medium flood risk. Notwithstanding this, the land has consistently supported the successful production of high value crops including carrots, potatoes and cereals with farming practices easily adapted to accommodate seasonal flood conditions.
