"When we purchased Shepherds Lane five years ago, we genuinely believed it could be our forever family home. As a growing family looking for space, outstanding schools and excellent transport connections, the property offered everything we were searching for and more.
The extension became our dream project. We spent almost two years carefully planning and designing the space, creating a home that would work perfectly for family life both now and in the future. Our vision was to create a bright, open-plan environment where we could spend time together every day, and that space has become the heart of the home.
Over the years, we've enjoyed countless family meals, celebrations and gatherings with friends. Whether hosting summer barbecues, children's birthday parties or simply spending time together at weekends, the house has always felt welcoming and effortlessly sociable.
The garden has been equally special for our family. At approximately 180ft in length, it has provided endless space for our children to play, explore and enjoy the outdoors. We created the bespoke playground to become a focal point of family life, and had we remained here, our next project would have been a summer house at the far end of the garden to make even more of the incredible space available.
One of the main reasons we chose this home was its location. Being within the catchment area of some of Kent's most highly regarded grammar schools, including Dartford Grammar School, Dartford Grammar School for Girls, Wilmington Grammar School for Boys and Wilmington Grammar School for Girls, gave us confidence that this was the perfect long-term family home. The fact that Dartford Grammar School is within walking distance was particularly appealing.
The transport links have also been invaluable. Dartford Station provides excellent services into London, making commuting straightforward, while nearby access to the M25 has made travelling across Kent, London and the wider South East incredibly convenient.
What we will miss most is the life we've built here. This house has been the backdrop to family milestones, celebrations and countless everyday moments that have become treasured memories. Leaving is genuinely bittersweet. If it were not for a career opportunity taking our family to the United States, we fully expected this to be our forever home.
