Seller’s Insight
"When we moved to Springfield House around 12 years ago, we were immediately drawn to the combination of its character, space and location. It offered the opportunity to enjoy a genuine countryside lifestyle whilst remaining incredibly well connected, with Newark and its direct rail services to London within easy reach. For us, it has always been the best of both worlds.
One of the most significant projects we undertook was the redesign of the kitchen in 2020. We spent a great deal of time planning every detail, carefully considering the layout and sourcing the highest quality materials and appliances. We are particularly proud of the result and love the contrast between the contemporary kitchen and the property's original character and how it has seamlessly connected the space to the terrace and gardens.
The improvements have extended far beyond the kitchen. Over the years we have invested significantly in the property, replacing the private drainage system, boiler and oil tank, whilst continually enhancing the interiors with quality finishes and thoughtful details throughout. Even the cloakroom was designed with the same level of care, featuring embossed Italian tiles that reflect the attention given to every room.
The orangery has become one of our favourite spaces. By adding a solid roof and a log-burning stove, we transformed it into a room that can be enjoyed throughout the year. Whether it is a bright summer morning or a winter evening by the fire, the views across the gardens are always beautiful.
The second floor is incredibly versatile, we have used it as a bedroom suite with dressing room alongside a games room and gym but it could equally provide guest accommodation, a dedicated leisure area, home-working space or multi-generational living.
The gardens have brought us enormous enjoyment. The greenhouse and vegetable beds allow us to grow a wide variety of produce throughout the year, while the well, located within the outbuildings, provides a natural water source for the irrigation system. Several years ago we created the wildlife pond, complete with a duck house, and it has attracted an abundance of birds and wildlife.
It is a super place to keep horses, the paddocks and stables are well maintained and there are excellent hacking routes straight from the doorstep. The extensive garaging and outbuildings have also been a tremendous asset, providing practical storage, workshop space and room for a variety of hobbies and interests. Over the years, the outbuildings have been used as a home office, a space for brewing our own beer and general workspace, whilst the generous garaging has been invaluable for storing vehicles, equipment and machinery.
Perhaps more than anything, we will miss the setting and the community. We have wonderful neighbours and North Scarle has a strong sense of community and nearby Collingham provides everything needed for day-to-day life. We have been extremely happy here and will leave with many fond memories of both the house and the lifestyle it has given us."
