Description

Tor Lodge and Tor Cottage are in the hamlet of Carrigreich on the east coast of the Isle of Harris in the Outer Hebrides. Situated along the scenic road to Scalpay, the property comprises two contemporary houses with stunning sea views across East Loch Tarbert, dotted with small islands.

The island of Lewis and Harris is in the Outer Hebrides and the largest island in Scotland. A place of diverse landscapes, fascinating history and a strong cultural heritage, the island is the ultimate get away from it all destination. The coastline is dotted with white sandy beaches ranging in size from the small to the 3 miles wide Luskentyre and Scarista beaches, all with stunning views over clear blue seas to the neighbouring islands of the Outer Hebrides. The village of Tarbert with its ferry terminal and home to the world famous Isle of Harris distillery, is about three miles away and has schooling up to secondary level, a range of independent shops and hotels, and leisure centre. Stornoway, about an hours’ drive away, has a wider range of shops and facilities along with its airport and ferry terminal.

Tor Lodge and Cottage were designed by R House, Highland architects known for their striking contemporary houses based on the traditional Scottish blackhouse. The two outstanding properties have been constructed and finished to the very highest specification and attention to detail is evident throughout, from the beautifully proportioned exteriors which sit so comfortably in the landscape to the superb interiors which are at once welcoming, interesting and well thought out. The interior furnishings are of the very best quality and have been chosen both to create outstanding comfort and to complement and contrast with the stunning setting.

Some of the exceptional features of the house include the magnificent open plan living areas which create a wonderful sense of space and fill the houses with natural light; the carefully positioned windows that frame the magnificent views; the beautifully fitted and finished bathrooms and kitchens; and the contemporary furnishings.
