Description
The separate entrance leads to the light-filled living area, an open-plan space combining a living room with a fireplace, a dining room and an open-plan kitchen.
The sleeping area is separated by a corridor screened by an elegant frosted-glass door, designed to ensure privacy without compromising the brightness of the rooms. Here there are two generously sized bedrooms and two bathrooms, one with a shower and the other with a bath.
The apartment was refurbished around twenty years ago, with particular attention paid to the quality of the materials and the choice of furnishings. The ivory-coloured ceramic floors, together with the kitchen and furnishings, lend the rooms an understated, contemporary elegance. The neutral tones chosen for the interiors create a harmonious, relaxing and timeless atmosphere. The property is fitted with underfloor heating.
The property also includes a parking space in the ground-floor garage, a garden shared with the first-floor apartment, and a communal storage room used as a laundry room. The garden, equipped for al fresco lunches and dinners, is adorned with a lush vine that bears bunches of grapes in autumn, creating an authentic and charming atmosphere.
The villa itself is particularly charming, built in the Art Nouveau style and adorned with graffito decorations on the façade - an ornamental technique typical of historic residences in northern Italy. This architectural detail, combined with the exclusive and secluded setting, lends the property an authentic and timeless character.
The charming village of Torno is located on the shores of Lake Como, on the eastern shore of the first Como basin; it is situated on a promontory called Montepiatto (610 msl) which offers a fantastic view of the lake, being in a raised position not far from the opposite shore, in one of the areas where the shores are closest.
This village, which today has just over 1000 inhabitants, has ancient origins and, as is typical of the Como area, boasts a centuries-old tradition in the textile sector. In the historic centre, the churches, houses and typical restaurants offer a special atmosphere suspended in time. Torno, with its fantastic panorama and beautiful landscape, is an ideal location for nature lovers and lovers of romantic places: the hinterland can be discovered on the various paths, while the lake offers water sports enthusiasts a wide range of possibilities for recreation.
The pretty shoreline of Torno has a charming little harbour, from where boats and ferries depart daily for other places on the lake. Como, only 10 km away (about 20 minutes by car) offers a lively atmosphere thanks to its numerous clubs, cinemas, theatres and museums. Milan and the airports of Linate and Malpensa are about an hour's drive away (approx. 58 km), as is the Swiss city of Lugano and its regional airport.
Winter sports enthusiasts will be interested in the relative proximity of the famous resorts of St. Moritz (CH), Madesimo, Bormio and Livigno, which can be reached in two to three and a half hours by car, depending on the destination.
